1996 Phazer heated grips

So last week I bought a very nice condition 96 Phazer II, it has heated grips but there is no knob to turn on or adjust. Did 96's have these from the factory and if so how where they turned on or adjusted?

i have a 98 and they are turned on using the key. Put key in and first click is on, second click is on with the warmers on, and the third click is for electric starter. They are either off or on.
 
check on the back side of the steering post on my 89 there is a lil toggle on the side by the rider in the plastic covering steering post.

Every Phazer II I've owned is this way, There is a small switch hidden on the underside of the steering cover, usually a 3 position switch where the center is off and the other 2 are High and Low.
 
that would be really cool if my 98 has a switch. Right now when its not that cold out the warmers will get too hot. I will check this out later today.
 
Cool, thanks for the input guys. I new I just didn't look hard enough plus I haven't really been able to get the 12 year old to park it long enough. Now if I could just figure out how to keep the darn choke lever from freezing in the mid way point. It has somehow got some moisture in there as it only happen when it sits outside or is trailered.

I used to have this problem on my old phazer. The cable has a junction box located between the cowl and the airbox. This is where mine would freeze. I ended up buying some of that rubber wrap electrical tape stuff and wrapping the heck out of the three cables and the box. Problem solved for me.
 
I suspected that junction point as the culpret, I am hoping that the sled getting some miles put on it will dry it out over time. The sled has had very little use for the last number of years prior to me getting it and going through the vital stuff.
