2000 SRX. Put maybe 50 miles on the sled before Xmas. Ran great. Had it sitting in the front yard. Monsoon rains came so I put it in the garage, heated. Went to start it the other day, wouldn't start. Usually takes about 20 pulls after sitting for any length of time. Smelled like I flooded it. Never happened before. Pulled the plugs. Pulled it over a few times. Let it sit. Later the same day put the plugs back in. Fired after a few pulls. Ran rough as hell and was noisier than usual. PTO cylinder started leaking antifreeze at the head slightly and blew gas heavily out the exhaust donut. All cylinders seemed to be firing. Pulled the head, everything looks fine. Pulled the cylinder, everything looks fine. When I pulled the pipes off about a pint of gas ran out of each pipe. OK, maybe I seriously flooded it, but why the antifreeze leak, and why didn't it start in the first place?

bad seal on the water pump perhaps! or bad waterpump.. abuddy of mine had similar problem on his srx ..It turned out to be somthing with his waterpump...bad lobe or broken gear ..or somthing like that with it.

well maybe u did try to compress gaz ..... and oring faild .....it was reallly flood if u remove gaz from pipe hope u didnt bend a rod went the sled fired up..... went the base is full of gaz its extremely dangerous for motor

Did it sit outside in the rain at all?

It does sound like it was flooded, to much fuel in the case.
Have you checked your compression?

yes i would check the fule pump letting gas in to the base just sitting there..* if it was at any incline it would all go to one of the outside pipes.im not sure on the antifreeze leak but a wild guess would be all the fuel in the bottom & build up of compression blew the o-ring.now that you already have it off.replace the o-rings & torque to spec & see how it goes....

Thanks for the input guys.

The gas running into the engine while sitting sounds possible. Enough gas in the case to put pressure on the head to allow the o rings to leak. But it was just sitting on the garage floor level, and this thing always drains the carbs back to the tank when sitting. That's why it's hard to start.

The sled has been sitting for a day without the cylinder on. I will check for gas in the case.

I will put it back together with new o rings and pull it over a few times without the plugs to clean any gas out of the case.

Has anybody heard of these bending the rods? I though they just snapped. Although maybe one is broke on my other cylinders.

Update

After sitting for 2 days there was no gas in the crankcase. Put it back together today and fired up after about 4 pulls, about normal. PTO cylinder back firing like crazy out the exhaust. I think it even stretched the springs. Shut it down right away. Pulled the plugs. Mag and PTO wet. Center dry. MAG side could have been backfiring too. Couldn't run it long enough to determine. I guess now I will pull the carbs. Any other suggestions?

don't know if this was talked about but I had been working on my old two up the other day and it would fire up fine and but after a few minutes it sounded bogey. I shut it down and checked the plugs. PTO side great left side completely cleaned and drenched with gas. Let it sit and tried to start it but it wouldn't. Pulled off the exhaust and it was full of gas. Checked the vaccuum line and it was full of gas. Pulled the fuel pump out and sure enough the bottom diaphragm was ripped and gas was gravity fed directly from the tank. Whole crank filled up. What a waste of gas.

As far as I can tell the vacuum is taken off the center cylinder. It seems like my outside cylinders are getting flooded and it seems like it is only flooding when I pull it over, or running. Crankcase vacuum pulling in the gas? And why mainly to the PTO cylinder? I guess the next step is to pull the fuel pump apart.
