Hello.I just purchased a used advant-edge roller asembly for my 1997 sx700.I have installed it but i had to remove to metal plate with screws so that i could bolt on my roller asm.now i have lost approximately 2 mm so now my sheaves are closer together and my belt most likely will not run properly.Am i supposed to shim the secondary and remove the original 3 screws and shims?Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Secondary Shims
Yes, there was an assortment of shims that came with the new kit to provide spacing for the belt.

adding shims moves the secondary closer together. removing shims moves em further apart. They allmost look like engagement shims for a primary clutch.

i have a roller rooster too, and the more shims (look like engagement shims for primary) i add, the farther apart the secondary sheaves are from one another, thus allowing the belt to sit farther in the secondary. when i had no shims, the sheaves would be so close together, that the belt delfection would be way too tight. i had to use 1 thickest shim and 1 thinnest shim, to have it right on.

turk, are you thinking of the shims that go behind the 3 little bolts on the back of the secondary?
Too much demon rum last nite. Adding shims moves shives further apart. Subtracting moves em closer together. the opposite of a stock secondary.

Thanks to all who replied.I finally spoke to the person that i bought the roller from and he forgot to give me the shims.I should have them on Monday. Can't wait to try it out
after you take out the screwed plate it should of came with a big washer that you put in place so you can still use your adjustment screws the big washer actually comes from a arctic cat cluch
