94 v-max I have always had this problem but now feel comfortable to work on it. Went riding with the wife last night and let her lead because she does not go fast. I was tring to see where my stumble was from. It seems to run good on low and then around 4000 to 5000rpm it seems to stumble but then when just above 5000 rpm it hits and takes off.
When I took the carbs apart to clean them I found that the pilot jet was a #50 and the Main Jet was a #165. Needle was in #3 and air screws were messed up so at two different settings. So cleaned put all back together and adjusted the air screws to 1 1/8 turn out like manual says. I know the main jet is big. The sled use to have pipes a tempa flow and clutching on it from PO but I never had them on went back to stock because I saw all the horror stories of people burning them down. Well I ordered 3 sets of main jets to play with this week when the sub zero weather goes away.

So is the 4000-5000 range have to do with the main jets?
I picked up a 155,157,160 jets to try out. ips good.
Is there any other screws to adjust for the high end fuel or is it just the jets?
All I want to do is get it to run as good as my wifes that is totally stock. To bad she does not take advantage of it. lol
Any help would be great guys. I am a newb at the jetting thing.
All I want to do is get it to run as good as my wifes that is totally stock. Man hers runs great.

i had the same machine and i also ran pipes.i think your best bet is to run the stock mains and pilot jets without the pipes.most likely your stumble will be gone
