the manual has some oil pump info but not as much...
I have found a nice write up by daman!
but still would like to hear more details on this subject if someone has something on there mind.
i understand how to adjust the cable and align the oil pump according marks, but how would i actually check if the pump is pumping ??
assuming the sled needs to be running in order for vaccum to appear, and i open up the pump to WOT using my hand manualy, where would i look for oil? oil hose on each carb?,oil hose for crank case? or where ?
thanks guys...

Hello everyone, I have good news!
everything is back together and running !!
here is what i did;
had to replace 2 pistons, one cylinder with some honning in both.
took carbs apart and cleaned with cleaner and compressed air, fuel screws set to 2 turns out and no more rpm hang!.
had to drain old coolant along with oil and decided to go with amsoil, aswell drained chaincase oil and filled with some fresh amsoil atf.
had to bleed oil at the oilpump bleeder screw, and coolant aswell, in the back and in the fromt.
added some oil in the fuel tank just for safety at first before i make sure pump is working to spec.
adjusted choke and throttle freeplay to 2mm,
adjusted idle rpm to 1600 @ operating temp.
did compression test @ operating temp.
120psi across three...
so far did a couple warm and cooldown cycles to set things in,
since i added oil to the tank according to 50:1 i have lots of smoke right now from the pipes, so i put the sled near the door of the garage with a fan blowing all the exhaust right outside!
the only problem i see right now is adjusting oilpump cable, even with the nut maxed out all the way in, my cable is not even close to 20mm once pulled all the way! the most i can get out of it is around 14mm. but everything is functioning when i look down at the oilpump lever!
ah yeh i almost forgot, i found the problem of my burndown!
when i was adjusting throttle freeplay, i noticed that oil cable got cought inside the lever cause mine is cracked abit and holds together from only one side and this made enough clearance for the cable to pass through the holding point and didnt activate oilpump lever at all !!
thanks for all your help guys !!

Is the part that is cracked/broke replaceable, meaning is it a bolt on part? IMO I think it would be best to repace or fix the issue that caused your problems in the first place. Costs less $$ that way!kl-ze said:ah yeh i almost forgot, i found the problem of my burndown!

replacing the part whould be the best idea for sure!
but for now, meanwhile i fixed it so that the cable has no clearance to get cought or move from its holding point!

did a first run yesterday night at scugog lake, around 60km and 2 hours of back and forth riding trails and lake around shore as it was dark out...
everything looks good, nothing is leaking, oil seems to be burning but maybe even too much, i had oil up to 1qt mark and after this short ride my oil light was on! and gas guage moved just abit since i put only 50-60km on the tank.
sled runs stronger then before, specialy at high speed, the punch is just incredible, it was nice before but now is even better! goes to 100mph on guage in one breath!
thanks again for your help everyone

calling out for all oil ratio experts !!
Hello everyone!
2 days ego we did 120km run from newmarket to barrie and back,
sled feels strong and on the dot!
but only one problem! way too much oil, id say 25:1
I'm using 2 quarts per tank of gas
now, my cable is adjusted all the way in and maxed out the gap at only 14mm instead of 19-20mm
what can be done here guys ??
thank you for all your help!

fresh rebuild is very important !
just finished rebuilding my gsx 600HO SDI aswell, what a differance

my sxr only has 2" riser, but all cables lool stock! and i even took pictures of the routing before taking sled apart, but will look again today if there is something in the way of the oil cable, but really doubt it!
i dont understand or see, how i would bring that oil cable gap to 20mm if the nut is maxed out all the way in ??
thanks for any help....

i didnt measure minimized gap but if mine maxed out at 14mm than i would think that it would minimize at about 7mm or so...
why are you asking ??
you must have the cable pulled out somewhere or its not seated properly somewhere in the line. or someone put the wrong oil cable on it. I would definately change it!

hello guys,
I finally fixed my oil cable issue.
as mentioned before my throttle body is broken (holding only one side)
and oil cable wasnt seating in properly, I managed to fix it for now, but will consider replacing complete throttle body assembly...
i set the oil cable gap to 20mm
thanks for all your help and advices !!
