I have an 00 SRX that won't climb above 8100rpm anymore even on long stretches of lake equating to about 90mph. It used to rev to 8600 and top out ay 107mph (gps verified). Carbs and clutches are clean, new belt and power valves have all been cleaned. Sled has approx 5k miles. My next step is to replace the primary and secondary springs as they are stock. Any advice on wether I am heading in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks

yep, sort of had that happening to me a few days back.Either lighten the outer rivet, but play with your secondary spring and wrap.Mine on the Red River on Saturday on a straight away pinned was only running at 8000-8050 and no more.I then change from Red to Green spring,as I knew this would pick up some rpm.I also switched primary from stock to y-g-y which drops my engagement to about 3500.Then this way I am not over spinning like crazy on launch and not over shifting to fast.Seemed to help..because now I can pin it with no lag from overshifting and then I can feel the difference as it pulls from 8200 and up.Before ...it got to 8000 but felt flat, and didn't want to climb in rpm or speed.WHERE are you in Winnipeg.I live just south of St.Norbert about 5 miles.

Thanks for the info. I thought that my stock springs might be weak as they have not been changed but it sounds like I should look at the combo you mentioned (my riding style is aggressive trail so I would like to set this sled up for that...might try some combos posted in the tech articles). FYI - I live just n/e of deacons corner (hwy 207 and #1) but do most of my riding around Lee River/Lac du Bonnet/Nopoming.

did you check & double check to see if you had any pull thru,s? Just takes one.

Had a pull through but replaced the valve before I went out on the weekend. Will double check tomorrow to make sure all are ok. That would be just my luck if another one pulled through on my first ride after cleaning and repairing those satan devices.....oh well its all part of the fun I suppose.
Thanks again for your feedback it is appreciated.
