How Much Track Friction Is To Much?

Valin did some work for me on my sled this year and notice a lot of track friction. I didn’t really think too much about it at the time but last night I went for a ride and it seems to be slowing down very fast after I get off the gas. My track is pretty tight because it was put on new last year right before I bought it. I’m just wondering if I should pull the skid and check the bearings? I am planning on going sledding all weekend and don’t have a heated garage so I was hoping not to have to pull the skid but what do you experts think? How much roll should I have after I get off the gas? The thing that worries me is that the guy I bought the sled off changed the track right before I bought it and didn’t even bother to change the sliders that were finished so maybe he didn’t change the main bearing on the drive shaft.

PS. Do you think I should just start by loosening the track off a bit?

Thanks Guys!!

Looser the better. Loosen until it ratches, then tighten slightly. If you are worried about the drive bearings, set sled on the side and check for play in the shaft. There shouldn't be any.

I don't know how to quantify the decelleration from sticking hyfax or rolling resistence, but it should not lunge you forward when you get off the gas. Is you parking brake too tight or sticking???

That's my problem because the guy that did the track before I bought the sled didn't seem to care about anything else but getting the new one on. The sliders were burnt right down to the skid and he never changed them. :o|

Hey Ty

Could also be the chain tension, or the chaincase bearing for that matter

You'd hope those were addressed when track was swapped...but...
