My SRX ran fine last year. I have done all the maintenance this year and replaced and adjusted power valves. My sled has a bender can and a very distinct sound I am used to. Stock clutch too. My sled does not have the acceleration it used to. Compression is fine and all cylinders are running. I am not a bone head so I have covered all the obvious. also when I get up to around 70 mph, the sled has no more power. it will creep up to around 80 on the speedo for top end, that is it. The tone of the exhaust also changes when this happens and the temp light will flash and then go off. is sounds more boggie at top end. if I feather the throttle through the power rannge, I can keep it in pretty good tune, but anywhere through the rpm range, if I pin the throttle, all real power is lost.

I do not know where to go from here. The clutch???????????? Somebody please help. I am wasting too much time and not enjoying the ride.

Are you clutches getting hot? What RPM do you hit out of the hole and at WOT? Have you changed the belt and is it a Yamaha belt?

That said, it doesn't sound like a clutching problem. Is the choke sticking?

no power

sounds like your power valves are sticking. is your temp light flashing 7 times in a row when u hold it wide open?

I had a similar problem this year. Hits a wall at 98-99mph. Turned out my sheave bushing on the secondary clutch was very worn causing it to wobble and bind when the clutch was close to top end territory.

Thanks for the thoughts. I took it out today and for the first time I got the seven light flashes when I fired it up, so I am guessing something is still going on with my power valves. 2 of them are new and one is old. the old one is slightly damaged, but i needed to use it because I was in a bind up north.

I was wondering if that one power valve could effect the performance to the tune of 25 mph slower. It slides well, it is just filed slightly to smooth it back out. I will get a new one asap. but I just find it hard to believe that could be the only problem. I will check my sheave bushing as well.
