I blew up my 1998 srx 600 over the weekend and i have a complete top end jugs pistons and heads off a 2001 srx 700 does any one know if they will work on my 600 engine thanks

ya they will work ,,,but the carbs will need going through ....powervalves are different ,cdi is different ,....

correct me if i am wrong but i thought the valve face was matched to the size of the piston? thats why when a big bore is done your valves need to be ground to match? part number is 8df-1131A-00-00 for 600 and 8dn-1131A-00-00 for 700....

True when you do a big bore you have to machine for the extra diameter..
WHen I match up my 600 and 700 valves they are identical... Maybe in the casting of the 600 jug, Or some one swapped them before I owned it.

one of my 600`s was turned into a 700 this same way ....i havent layed valves out to actually see if they are the same or not ....the cdi can be used it will have 2 more degrees of timming ....the carbs will have to be rejetted ...i was told clip position would need changed but according to stock specs olny the jetting needs changed .....

Yep I knew the timing was more advanced, Liek you said the carb changes...... I am going to take my PV valves and look at them again....
Sounds like I have a wrong set...

Valves are different have both aswell... But why would you change the CDI?? Are you planning to run the 600 stator?

Your clutches are going to have to be dialed in also!!!! Oh and doesn't the 00 -02 srx's 700 have different cdi because of porting, and a different stator and all the electrical??

What's the question again? Can the 700 top go on the 600 bottom - Yes. The only real difference is the cdi. The 600 run a touch more timing than the 700. The two run different jetting and clutching specs, but assuming you set the sled up afterwards the topend will swap.

So you need to put a 98-99 700 cdi and clutches and jetting in and the 700 jugs and heads and power valves...RIGHT?!?!?!? What about the porting differences on the 00-02's is that ok?

right! use the 01 jetting and you'll be fine with the 00-02 cyl's.

The porting difference make no difference as you are swapping all three cylinders. Jet according to what the motor wants and it will all be good. You don't need to swap the cdi either as it will work fine, just need to watch the fuel and maybe up the jetting a touch to compensate for the extra timing.

The pipes, carbs, etc are all the same. The settings are different is all. If using the 2000 up 700 cylinders, heads, and powervalves I'd start with the 01 700 jetting specs, clutch it like a 700 and see how it works. Should be pretty close.
