Napa----wtf!!

Doing some work on my Vmax 4 suspension and found some bearings bad. Figured I'd save some time and maybe even some cash and grab some from my local Napa. Went to the counter, gave the guy my bearing as a cross reference and he asked me how many I wanted. I said 8. He grabbed them and rang up the bill. $250!!! $30 per bearing + tax. I bout sh&!t myself. Asked him to check again. Yup, $250!! I was expecting mor in the line of $8 each. I might just as well go buy a nice used suspension for that kind of money and still have some left over for a sixer.

Got home and called my local dealer. $8.50 each. WTF NAPA!!!

And I always thought OEM parts were the most expensive.

Called Napa back to ask why and he said they only sell quality bearings. He asked me where I was getting my numbers from and I told him "straight from the manufacturer". His response: "ok, thank you....click".

Seems to be price gouging more and more these days. Stopped by a local Doo dealer to get some "Star Tron" ethanol fuel treatment" : $13.95/8 oz. bottle. Stopped over to the VIP next door. $6.99 same bottle. CRAZY :o|

take them back....

Started buying Genuine Nissan parts from dealer because Napa, Piston Ring aftermarket parts were more money... Napa will take what the can get... Negociate the price first since they have much room to move...

Napa is not nearly the same quality in my experience... tj
 
I know you're not in MN, but I went to a local place called Motion Inc. in Roseville, MN. The 6205s were $3.58 a piece for the made in china brand. The had SKSs for $11 or 12 but the guy said they rated for electric motor usage. So I didn't see the point.
 
I had the same jaw drop on bearings at napa too. Something like $25 per bearing. I told him no thanks. Went to the motor cycle shop just down the road and he ordered them in for like $6 each.
 
Funny, I was in Napa today trying to get a 6005-2rs for my Warrior. $26.00! I then asked the price for a 6204-2rs, $22.00! What the heck is going on?
I would order them from VXB on e-bay if your not in a hurry. I've ordered from them a few times. $12.00 for ten and they lasted a long time in the old V-max!
 
do a search . i bought 10 6204 2 rs for i think $30. and that included shipping. the down side is you will wait a few days to get them. i have 10 on the shelf in the garage because sooner or later i will need a few. i believe it was a bearing place in CA.
 
I got them by the 10 pack from a place that sells on eBay called VXB Bearings. The price is really good and they have over a thousand miles on them and are still like new. Can't complain. I got the last 10 for $19 shipped. That's a $1.90 a bearing. At that price I can afford to change them seasonally if I had to.

You just need to know what you need size wise. I used the 6004-2RS and they fit my '97 wheels fine.

We have a company here in Dearborn Mi. called Motion Industries that I get my bearings from.

From what I know, the quality ratings for bearings is based on the tolerances after manufacturing yet they all come off the same line. Kind of like produce. The perdy stuff ends up on the shelves and the brused stuff ends up as juice, but both are off the same tree.

This is correct...the rating is called ABEC... then a number..the higher then number the better the bearing.....

ABEC1...very cheap

ABEC 3 fair
ABEC 5 better....etc
