can you use plug wires from say auto zone or one of the other chain stores? if so, which ones? i need to replace at my boots and mine as well replace the wires too. i am doubting the local dealer has the boots on the shelf. i should check my coils too. what should the ohm reading be?

i just checked the price on boots. $20. each WTF? must be something else you can use? what about a makee your own set? if that then what ends do you use on the coil?

check ebay for NGK plug boots. There is a member on here that changed his wires to aftermarket wires he said he had to use a dremel tool to remove the glue and old wire coating in the coil to install the new wires. I would think it would be wise to glue the new ones in to seal them from getting water inside.

i will , thanks. looks like parker yamaha has quite a selection of stuff. will have to call there tomorrow.

i had that thought too except i am not sure what to do with the coil end. the stock ones are glued in and i don't know what the ends look like other than the boots are straight and look like the old point style. i need to do something soon cause 2 of them are way to loose on the plug.

thanks, i was wondering if the coil end was threaded like the plug end. if it is then i should be able to use solid core wire and this will not be as big a job as i thought.

Or a solid core wire may cause RFI issues. I've run across this on EFI automotive applications.

I assume modern sleds run some type of resistance wire due to them not causing interference when they ride past the corner of my house which is were the TV is. I don't know for sure but if the correct resistance value is higher than 5 ohms, it isn't solid core.
