Was out on tour yesterday and my Viper was chuggin the gas like I do the beer......both expensive habits! I was riding with another guy who had the same sled and my fuel comsuption was double his. I went through a full tank and we did about 80miles. The clutches are clean, suspension adjusted, and carbs were cleaned last season and only use the good stuff for gas.
Any thoughts?

Is your seld stock? Do you have any clutch work done to it or aftermarket gearing.

Undo the tape that is holding the throttle pinned to the bars.... :bump:

ha- true it was a quick trip, but the other Viper was always in front, just a side note, his Viper was the same if not better on gas than the 2 new 800 Adrenalines that claim "amazing fuel mileage"!

they are clean as a whistle, however, I did notice on #1, the first gasket on the power valve has a small leak on the bottom. I'm not sure if that would make a difference. Should they leak a little or be sealed solid?

I had the same problem, turned out to be a gas line leak. They get brittle over time and easily crack when removing to clean carbs.

I had the same issue last year and found out I was overreving alot more than my buds Viper. Added some weight to primary, cleaned power valves and new belt and fuel milage came alot closer. If you ride hard overreving will burn alot of unneccessry fuel and your out of your power band! Some Viper's have a history of overreving form the factory. I think shift out is around 8400rpms. I was up almost to 9000rpms. Just what I found. good luck
