Hey guys,
I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I just bought an '00 SRX 700 and there seems to be an electrical problem. When I turn on the low beam lights, the guages shut off and lights dim. And, when I push the brakes the lights also dim!!
I checked the wire harness with a volt-meter and everything "seems" to be ok.
Any suggestions!?!
Thank you!!!

ive learned its a common problem with these sleds, the wiring harness rubs through under the motor and causes weird electrical problems. most re route the harness and fix the rub through

Had the exact same problem. I would click the brights to dim and the sled would shut off. Pulled the wiring harness and found 3 or 4 spots with bare wires. Wrapped the wires individually, then wrapped the @#$% out of the whole harness. Everything is mint now! Good luck!

Visually inspect the harness, to much chance that when testing it the possible rubbed wires might not have been grounding. Also check the wiring going under the seat and tank going to the brake light, these are free things to check. If there are no rubbed spots/bare wires, then stator would be next thing to check. You can try unhooking the headlight to take some load off and then see if the gauge still shuts off when hitting brake, but only after checking for rubs in wiring. I like to remove the pipes when checking harness, makes for a whole lot more room. Definitely check for rubbed wires before moving on to stator, don't want to throw a $200 stator at it and not be the cure.
