hi i was wondering if anyone nos what the hp of a 1996 v max 600 xt is and at what rpm it is and how much hp is gained by putting on twin gyt pipes i put on pipes, jetted did primeary clutch and was running around 8700 shift out had max weight rivit at tip thought that was too high so had stock helix for 1998srx (47)and changed spring pos to 3/3 was (41) 2/3 now am running around 8100

I dont know the HP but the stock engagement it about 3700 rpm and shift is about 8000rpm. i run stock except for thined headgasket and carbon fiber reeds and stay pretty close to these rpm's. This is from the service manual but i could not find any spec's for stock HP.
 
ya i cant find hp anywere or at what rpm even be fore i put pipes on shift was at max rpm 8300 in instructions and engagement was at 3500/3700 now with p/p/p spring in primery engagement is 3900/4000
 
You need the higher engagement as the pipes hurt on the low end and yuo will have a big bog. I had a96Xt with twins and it finally came alive around 20 mph. HP Gains with twins I think was inthe 12-15 hp range.
 
thanks for info, what is hp of motor? ok just took for 30mile run at start engagement was 3900/4000 at end of run engagement was 3500 has dead spot from 5000/5900 then scoots pulls right up to 7900/8000 and slowly gets to 8100/8200 got 90.8 on gps hole shot stinks jump ,flat ,pull. if i go slow on throttle and hit 5000/5900 which is almost half throttle will do nothing until it hits half throttle then the rocket takes off can anyone help me with my problem. stock weights,ppp spring in prim,47 helix 3/3 spring % in sec. gyt twin pipes jetted main155, pilot stock,needle at 2.5, pilot screw at 2

Check the condition of your rollers and weights. Check for flat spots and make sure the bushings are in good conditons. My clutch was acting eratic with dead spots at mid rpm and that was the problem.
 
yea the rollers or the inner an outter bushings will do that jus fixed mine on my 700 xtc an now its like a different sled
 
ok been messing with it all bushings are good rollers good, found that bad spot is in needles and were secondary starts to shift put needles were they are stock and it made a difference alot smoother if you have to drive in slow zone 15/20 had ppp spring with 2 shims and couldnt get engagment high enough so changed to hauck blue now engagmant is 4000/4100 which is ok and changed helix to hauck k which took secondary shift(bad spot) two around 5900 but after shift drops to around 5500 when driving slow, but now out of hole is good and can only check wot in about 1300 ft and am pulling 8500 not full shift, have 6.7 grams per weight started with 5.3 stock next will try ether 7.2, 7.6 or 8.1 per weight i think those are only combos two bring down wot rpm but dont know how to fix bad spot 5100/5600 have to keep low speed load out of that range

Aaen Single: 99.4 hp @ 7500 & 69.6 ft lbs tq @ 7500

Yamaha GYT Single: 97.9 hp @ 8000 & 66.2 ft lbs tq @ 7500

SLP Twins: 108.8 hp @ 7750 & 73.2 ft lbs tq @ 7750

PSI Twins: 107.1 hp @ 8250 & 68.6 ft lbs tq @ 8000

RPC Twins: 106.7 hp @ 8250 & 67.9 ft lbs tq @ 8250

Bender Twins: 108.3 @ 7750 & 73.4 ft lbs tq @ 7750

It should be noted that Dynotech also measured and compared the Bender & SLP twins and they came out with exact same pipe measurements and the results netted dang near the same HP & TQ readings.

Turbo Vmax 600 7 psi: 131.3 hp @ 7750 & 90.5 ft lbs tq @ 7500

Turbo Vmax 600 9 psi: 141.7 hp @ 7500 & 99.2 ft lbs tq @ 7500

Turbo Vmax 600 11 psi: 151.4 hp @ 7500 & 106.3 ft lbs tq @ 7250

Turbo Vmax 600 12.5 psi: 162.3 hp @ 7900 & 109.3 ft lbs tq @ 7700
 
I wondered the same thing, i believe it has been noted the the bender twins are very similar and therefore the same or close to the same numbers.

Those numbers make you want to throw a turbo on too don't they :)
 
ya i got usi skis with 4 inches of carbide it doesnt push its just a work out slicing through the woods have to go stop to stop to turn
 
Mine was like that when it was studded the idiot i got it from had almost 300 studs in it. Pulled the outside and dropped it to around 144 and it could turn but still pushed with worn carbides, i have 0 studs and 2" carbides and cab turn REALLY tight now.
You may want to turn up the front shocks. That will increase the ski pressure which will keep them planted and let you turn better. I only turn about half way or so around corners.
