secondary almost fell off ; Primary- wont fully release

89 exciter 570; Just got it; less than 1 km on new motor.
Please excuse the basic language here but I think its the best way to explain.

I opened the clutch cover on the side ; by hand- I could turn the bolt on the clutch closest to my knee. I turned it in and gave it a small torquing with the ratchet , to snug it so I can put it in the garage. I also realized, there is a gap base the head of the bolt to the clutch. There are 2 washers that seem to be floating between. What is supposed to be there, Cant be right. if any one knows of some links with photos, I'll be head of the game.

2nd issue
found some info, have to take off belt and try pushing in and snaping out. this I found, but what could be sprayed in there to clean up where the spring in in?

THe smaller and more forward clutch isnt returning back out all the way.
I can see about 1.5mm of the shaft still and is keeping the clutch engaged. Its not engaged enough to move the sled at idle but can really feel it when getting off the throtle and atempting to slow down.

I know nothing about this sled did all research on BRENDA ( 99 vmax 500). I bought this year and blew up after 6 kms. just got money back. I just want to get out there as fast as posible, my season has been robbed well enough!

the secondary should have a little play on the shaft.

For the Primary, you really need to remove it and clean it really well. There is probably grim on the shaft and bushing the is restricting movement. If you spray something in there, it is just going to collect more crap.
 
The bolt holding the clutch was at least three turns by hand before I could even snug with the ratchet... what is supposed to be on the out side of the clutch - between the blot and outer clutch plate?
 
We need to define the clutches here, to clear up which bolt we're talking about. The clutch on the end of the motor is most commonly referred to as the Primary clutch, the larger Diameter clutch is the Secondary. The secondary should have a little play on the shaft like silversnow said. You can look in your Vmax manual, the spec should be similar for that.

The Primary could be many things. Worn bushings, broken/tired spring......

What's the mileage on this sled?

went out for a nice ride last night. (first one of the season!!) horray..
88 mph. clocked it on my buddys RTX.
LAst half KM it started to bog just a little, but it was only after i did the 88 mph. got home and went up and down the street no prob, lots of snap.
I thought I may have taken out a bearing in the secondary.
Now as I mentioned b4, had a loose secondary main bolt ( refered to as a washer based bolt # 10 in the HLSM page fo rthe secondary)
It hasnt come loose yet but only put maybe 15 km's on last night. I want to break the engine in nice.

I think the idle is too high so I have started another thread on how to pin point that, but at the same time I think that is what is causing the clutch to be engaged. Due to the fact that when you turn the machine off the clutch returns to where it should be and there is just enough room to slide the belt between the clutch faces
