Is that a typical failure on a machine with 4000 miles? Once the bushing came out it was game over, luckily I had a complete spare which I inspected before putting on but I didnt check the bushing because I dont have the jig to unscrew the thing.

are you talking the bushing for the movable sheave? if so, it shouldn't back out and last 4000 miles for sure. a buddy of mine has 15,000 miles on his '00 srx and no bushing issues. are you keeping the clutches clean?

movable sheave-Yup thats the one. Well it looked clean but truth told I havent checked it since rebuilding the engine BUT I cleaned and inspected the backup I put on. I bought the sled in a blown condition and since day one it failed to rev very well so it must have been on its way out when I got it. I thought perhaps it was a Yamaha issue item. Thanks for the info.
