This is what I have: 2001 SRX stock with the exception of a ZX2 skid, long traveled up front with viper shocks, 1.25" ripsaw clipped at protectors w/144 studs up the middle (and yes, I'm still running 9 tooth drivers and clearance is fine, so , please lets not let this post drift off into another one of those "can't stud a 1.25" rants".)
I've added a 54/42 helix wraped at 60 per the advice of a member. No weight changes or springs or anything else.
Sled has nice low end and excellent midrange, but dies on the speedo at 90 mph. rpms are at 8300-8400. I recently had a guy that is a Yamaha mechanic adjust my valves as a side job at his house. they were just cleaned and set 300 miles ago.
The 90 mph is bugging me. How far off can the speedo be vs. actual speed. It sure doesn't feel like 90 mph.
I recently received a brand new set of 2 speed HC's in a trade. And still have the stock helix. I assume the 1.25" will give me some top end loss. Given what I have what direction should I take to improve top end? HC's, tip weight to the current set-up, different twist, back to stock helix or go with the 8dn-20 set-up? I really don't want to put anymore money into this.
I read somewhere that if my rpms are good then the problem may not be in the clutching and more likely the power-valves. I assume they are set properly but maybe I should check them again.
Thanks for any advice.
