replaced stator, sled starts sometimes! here is what I learned, I bought one of theoes testers that hook to our plug wires that "lights up" when you pull the starter, well it lights up, my gauges light up when pulling the recoil too but as far as "spark" to the plugs its either not there, very faint, or ever once in a while it gets bright & it starts! checking the coils and they read 0.0 on a multi meter. new gas, new plugs, 118 compression across the board, put fuEL in the cly's too, nothing. SO CAN THE STATOR BE GOOD AND THE COILS JUST NOT DOING THERE JOB? SOME JUICE IS MAKING IT THROUGH WITH THE "SPARK TESTER" BUT IT COULD JUST LIGHT UP WITH A MINIMAL AMOUNT OF JUICE. THANKS

is the new stator good????? used or new??? i would be checking everything out don't over look nothing, ohm check it all.

Well doesent seem to matter if they "check" out or not. so many here said theres checked out and still didnt run. lets say the stator is good , still no spark, what would you do? coils are with in spec! so we have good gas, good compresson, good staror,( lets say cant believe 2 were bad) intermittent spark. again the stator is putting out somthing guages light up! when it does start ( hardly ever) idles perfect sled ran perfect till I turned it off after a 6 mile ride. What does a person do?

grounds all good? did you check primary and secondary coil specs?pick up coil?? duno what to tell ya, i know i'd be grabbing my meter and checking specs no matter what people said. wire harness all good??

if stator is used could be bad too i've seen stranger things..get a SM for
specs will help..

Judging by your thread on the multi-meter, we need to make sure it's being used correctly. 0.0 is not a 'good' reading on most electrical items, it just means the 'internal wiring' is still allowing the flow of electrons. If any of the parts you put on don't meassure out to spec, you either need a new part or a new multi-meter.

not to be a smart *** but you either need to buy or borrow a good multi- meter. preferably a fluke. they are however expensive. i am a maintenace electrican and those meters of lesser quality can be less than accurate and give you more fits than the actual problem.

coils metered out, i give up too many varibles. no solutions to the problem with out throwing money at it, all my stuff is well maintained, again sled started with 2 pulles since fall ran great now flat on its face! glad I have a second sled to ride! we get 2 good storms here in Ky & ours starts tonight possible 10 inches! got to ride the cat!

Spark plug caps. Mine did the same thing and now I have an extra stator. Runs good now.

mine did simaler things as yours .I found two problems...bad caps and a rub thru in front of the motor in the wireing! are they the original caps? if they are , shake em ..if they rattle they are junk, even though they check out ohm wise.
