The service manual references a tool to remove the secondary on my 89 ovation. I can't remember needing any special tool to take off the secondary on my 600xt or my srx. Any help?

if it has a jackshaft for the clutch it should come off the same way as your srx. if the clutch is right on the chaincase then you will probably need that tool. i do not know as i never had to take one apart with the clutch on the chaincase.

It "appears" to be connected similar to my srx. Secondary on the jackshaft that runs over to the right side where the chaincase is.

Might need some convincing and some pb blaster....looks like I need to watch and make sure the key doesn't drop out of it too.
It's probably a splined jackshaft, no key to lose.

From the service manual and the parts diagram, it doesn't look splined. Looks like a key.
You're right I just found a diagram, there's a key and the clutch is held by a nut threaded on the the jackshaft instead of a bolt... Doesn't look like you would need a special but he nut might be seized.

The nut is free. I haven't messed with it since Saturday so maybe it's time to squirt some pb on it.

the secondary is a tapered shaft , with keyway. u need a steering wheel puller to pop clutch off shaft . u will see 3 notches to slide 3 bolts in to use puller pressing against shaft .

I'll give that a shot. I have a puller at the house.
