Hey everyone,
last year I decided to finally get rid of my 96 600XT for a Viper. I found just what I wanted in Oct. A 2002 special order Blue ER from someone 5 hours away. 900 original miles, perfect shape. All original. I took it out a few times on my local trails and decided to get studs. I was scheduled to get the studs this week. I took it on it's first major trip on Friday. We had perfect conditions and rode 120 miles no problem. The sled was just about perfect except for the studs. Last run, 2 miles from our lodge, I came over a knoll doing 40is to find a culvert with a small bridge. front left ski caught the bank on the other side and next thing I'm in a snow bank 20 feet away! Took out the entire left side of the suspension. I just got the estimate from my dealer. $3,000! Bent the frame, foot rest, took out the primary clutch, shock, trailing arm...etc. I'm sick!
My dealer has a 2003 Blue ER. low miles, mirrors, no studs. They want $4,000 for it.
They told me for $3,000 and the 02.
A few minor things I'm trying to figure out.
03 had a different track on it than my 02. bigger lugs.
Seat looks different. Not smooth. Looks like the one on my buddies Attack.
Other than that, very similar. I'm guessing my 02 had the original factory first run shock with no upgrade.
I think I can get them to stud the track for me but another 3k for another Viper? Ouch!~
This is the first sled I've wrecked and I'm so sick over it. Everyone says it happens eventually.
Any thoughts? not like I have the money laying around but we are having a great winter and I want my Viper back.

See if they would do 2500 and your sled, that way is little bit more fair for you.......I think a vioer motor runs around 1000 bucks and since a lot of your parts are bad you might not make a lot more than 1500/1800 bucks if you parted out....not that you said so, but I'm just trowing it out there for ya. I think 3 G and your sled is a great deal for them, but you are loosing. See if they come down a little.....
Besides Mighty here on the site has an 04 Viper ER for only $ 3200 and it has a 136...I will get that one for sure instead of the dealer one.....
Good luck and sorry to hear about the wreck.....

Thanks Nick,
I agree with you and was going to see if I can get them down. The one plus is my dealer is amazing. They are always fair and I know they would take care of me. Nice family run buisness.
I thought about parting it out but I would rather be sledding than parting for a few bucks.
I'll check out Besides Mighty's sled.
Thanks,
Tom

If you want me to test drive Mighty's sled for ya...I would be happy to....he's only about 1/2 hour away.

Part it out. You can still get 1000 for a complete unning motor. They are not giving you a real fair shake. Also studs probablly wouldn't have saved you

give them $3500 fot the sled they are selling and keep your and tinker or fix slowly wit used parts off of ebay or part it out.way better in the end for you that way
Post it for sale as is on here
If you took out the clutch, there's a chance the crank is bent.....
