belt sitting low

brand new belt is sitting low in the secondary..how high should the belt sit on a 97 sx 700?? this is my brothers sled he just picked up and i have not drove it yet so i don't know what kind of power it has...does this affect top end or.......my vmax4 sits high in the secondary..

belt should be flush or slightly below sheave (2mm). if its more than that, you need to add a shim washer behind each of the three adjusting bolts.

Spec on that sled is flush to 2mm below the edge of your secondary with a new belt like snowdad said. make sure the shims are in place in the secondary.

belt defection will affect RPM's.
