We just returned tonight from our trip to Wellston, MI area. Well good news is we all survived without insident. Trails were a little lumpy on Sat. alot of traffic and a few idiots on the trails. People still do not know hand signals. We saw the remnents of a collision in the Caberfe trail system, everyone involved were ok machines where minor problems. People involved were pissed at each other, and of coarse each persons buddy's had to add their .02 worth. On Sunday I thought we would have a good ride North and then back track to Lost Pines Lodge. We ran into a group of 4 Yamaha riders which were completely out of control. I being in the front of 3 sleds was ran off the trail by the first on coming SRX. My son dove off behind me with his Phazer II and then immediatly came another SRX faster than the first which just missed my son's sled which is completely off the trail in the deep snow. The second sled did manage to miss my wife and just spedd off again not slowing at all. The third was a SXV young girl not exactly knowing age came around corner sliding head on into my SX, I was waving arms and yelling. The Fourth sled was an Apex I think, he came around corner slower and made it. Not one sled came back to help the girl. No damage but a scratched front bumper to mine, hers was smashed into belly, I really did not care about hers. I seperated sleds and advised to slow down. Remember we were completly off of the trail in the powder stopped. I was so pissed I was ready to head back and leave. We did continue to Lost Pines to have hot coffee and a break at this point we had already traveled about 130 miles on Sunday. Ran the remaining 35 miles back to cabin in Wellston. If it wasn't for the few idiots on the trail it would have been a great weekend. Please everyone slow down on the trail, it is not a race track, remember people are coming the opposite direction also. Ride safe Al

And people like you, with family, that is one of the main reasons I'M AFRAID TO TAKE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER OUT ON A TRIP.
I can't agree more with you on that one....SLOWWWW DOWWNNNNNNN...If you want to race go to an open field or ice not on the trail where there is other snowmobilers....

You should have got her snowmobile tag info and reported it to the local Sheriff or State Police. Even if there was no damage to your sled your reporting it will cover your butt. It might also fish out the morons who needed to be ticketed in your near mishap.
People that drive like that should be asked to stay home or find a race track. A two way traffic public trail is not the place for out of control riding.

thats why i go during the week! i know that is not possible for most but there is a whole lot less traffic and less drunks too!!!!!!!! it scares me on the weekend to go past the bars and see all those sleds in the parking lot. if only a few are drinking that is still way too many!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!alswagg said:We just returned tonight from our trip to Wellston, MI area. I try to ride on Thursday Friday and Come home saturday afternoon. Too many trail hogs out there. Trails are not busy those days. Seems like Saturday afternoon they start getting busy. My son wants to ride but I am waiting until he is of legal age because to many idiots out there flyin. We get up and ride real early because most drunks sleep in before they ride and I always get back just before it gets dark. Riding at night it is too easy to outrun your headlghts.

Ya Ma Head, We only had a scare and small scratch. No problem to fix, could have been alot worse. I am planning on a trip again around going towards Ludington. I am looking at maps for a route and of course snow conditions. I would like to go on a Wed, Thurs, and Fri. I am going to reclutch wifes sled, this week and go riding next week.

I have that headlight and do like it. Works even better with a LED tail light bulb. I have family in Irons and plan on riding out of Alba to Irons then back the next day.

Well, it's good to hear you made it out unscathed.
People need to keep it under control, if you can't do that, SLOW DOWN until you can keep it under control. Not everyone has the abilities and the setup to ride at the same speed. Like was mentioned previously, these are public trails, not race tracks.

No, but it will keep it from dimming when you apply the brakes.

LED draws way less voltage then the standard bulb.. easier on your electrical system.
NOW LETS SEE . you have tripple pipes , ported , clutched what else . BUT YOU NEED MORE ? . is that part of the problem . 170+ hp turbo cat ??
how about safty flags so we may have some chance at seeing someone coming . all you would need is a glimps of a flag as a warning theres someone there , and if they were manditory we would all be looking for them . i have one on mine with a led light on it . the others in the group really like it . go over a hill and turn , they cant see the sled but they see the flag going around the corner , and the light is never in the snow cloud .
second it dont matter how fast you can go if you cant hang onto the sled . i run a airwave m10 and ohlins front shocks , hid lights ,yes i can see for 1/2 mi down the trail .
lets go TRAIL RIDEING . NOT TRAIL RACEING

Where do you buy a flag with an LED light? I am interested, I have an idea of the light being able to be a 2 position light, one for running and another for brake. Al
