Hey guys, all of you that run led tail lights......Does the snow still melt off the lens when riding.....this is the only thing that is stopping me from running these bulbs...My riding partner has a fx nytro and it comes with a led tail light and it always ices up....also there are many different amounts of led bulbs you can get what are you guys running???

Definitely doesn't help keep it clear but I didn't think it was that different from a traditional bulb, nobody in my group seems to notice either. The benefit of my headlight not dimming when I hit the brake is worth any extra clearing I do of the tail light.
Two strokes don't have the exhaust exiting the rear .My led never freezes up on the outside.

But when snow covers the brake it will not melt off like it does with a stock 1157!!!!!!
The 1157 NEVER kept the snow off mine. On the old Vmax Rage, I put the LED in and asked the guys if they had any problem seeing it and they said no. I ride point usually.
A led bulb does not warm the lense cover. The snowdust cannot melt and condense on the lense thus no icing up.
Snowdust will still come up on the lense but I have never had a problem with people not seeing my taillight.

Ok thanks guys
I run the new Bluhm Enterprises 5 inch which has a diffuser lens. The lens helps spread the light out so it can be seen from an angle. No problem with snow dust sticking, because it doesn't get warm.
I talked to a guy who placed one on his snow flap and another on the bumper and then the gas rack. When asked, following riders could see the one on the flap better than the other ones. They said it kinda looked like a strobe because it moved a little bit. When he braked it really seemed to light up. I have not tried the snow flap myself yet.

As a habit I just reach back there and wipe with my glove every now and then. When I had a regular bulb it would not melt off either. I wipe tail light just before I know a stop is coming as well. Had a friend rear end a friend one day so we all are more aware of snow covered tail light.
