my cousin has a 01 polaris xcsp 800 with clutch kit for bottom end v force reeds boost bottle a can and 144 picks on it what would the putcome of a race against him be with my 02 yamaha viper w/ slp triple pipes v force reeds 8ca's and an orange spring be?

its my old viper and you'll smoke em' but if its the way I sold it to you its set up for low end- hill climbs....either way he dont stand a chance...that sleds been set up from me and I learned alot from turk and mr.viper through my grass drag-ice drag days..the only thing is ..its a diffrent setup for each individual race..you can't expect to win if your not prepared. but you'll do fine.

u may want to unload the secondary alittle...I think I had it set at 90 degrees with that helix..its way to much for anything past 80..let me know how it goes.

Good luck.

It should be pretty close if you both have studs. I wouldn't be surprised if they tied. Now if you don't have studs, keep it to hardpack snow, and not ice.

Let us know how it goes. If that were an 02 800xc, it would have the VES, and I would be surprised if the xc would not easily win.

My buddy has a 2002 XCR 800 triple with VES and I eat him up consistently. If we go from a dead start I leave him sitting like he broke something and he can not catch me. Going from 45-50 mph we stay close but he starts to pull slightly. His sled has 7000 miles (motor never apart) on it and is basicly stock with 144 studs and aftermarket can. You can see my specs in my garage. He hates it when my "little" 700 takes his "monster" 800 down. He is currently working on some clutching for it. Here are a couple of pics of the two, sorry no racing pictures! but as you can see in the pics the viper is always in front. -Ed

After some radar runs in '03 I was on my buddies '02 Viper with some clutching done to it and I had a blast afterwards lineing up and racing across the lake. I was throughly impressed when my big a$$ (260lbs) was beating an '02 800 XCsp, 600 ZRT, and a ZR800. The look on these fools faces at the other end of the lake was priceless. I had them by like 3-5 sleds in about a 1/3 of a mile. "It's just a stock 700." I told them. The only prob I had was the temp light would come on after about 3-4 runs. I made my point by then though.

That is actually a 2001 XCR800, not a 2002.

And that is a xcr800, not an edge 01 or 02 xc800sp what is what this thread is about. The xc is a twin, the xcr is a triple.

Also, that xcr sounds like it needs help. Those were much faster than the vipers were stock for stock.

That said, line them up, and let em go. Then report back. With both sleds being seveal years old, who knows what could happen. Both could blow up. LOL

I have a rear heat exchanger coming Friday to take care of that little issue!! -Ed

That girl has moved on to greener pastures. I believe the fella that bought it turned it into an improved or mod for grass dragging. That was a damn fast 700 though. Its amazing what some clutch work can do to a bone stock sled. I also failed to mention the front was slammed and the rear was set perfectly for direct power transfer, very litle spin. Them vipers look t!t$ slammed to the ground.

But thanx anyway, good lookin out.

was looking through my toolbox today...you really need to learn clutching and tear into that viper...that doesn't have 8ca's as you mentioned..I found the 8ca's in my tool box..that means it has 8dn-20's which is stock for the newer srx's. Which in turn means it will have better top end..it also has diffrent rollers..i believe 15.6 mm rollers to go with the 8dn-20's ..tear it apart man..learn,break,fix,learn its what its all about

First off I have friends with all of these mentioned sleds......one with a 2001 XC800 w/out power valves, one relative with a 2002 XC800 Edge w/ Edge skid and PV's and one with a 2001 XCR 800 triple triple. I can beat them all in 1000' runs with my STOCK viper. I had triple CPR's on mine one season and it was MUCH worse. I just didn't like the mileage and the finicky nature of it to temperature changes so I took them off. Too be honest the 2001 was quicker than the 2002 XC800. Those 800 VES's IMHO were not good motors as for performance. A former engineer from Polaris even stated the same to me that the 700 VES was a much better motor than the 800 VES. I won't get into those details. the fastest of these three sleds I encountered was the XCR 800 triple triple. He may have possibly had more top end, I don't know, we only ran 1000' runs drag racing in our field. I pulled him 2-3 lengths every run, while my Dad's stocker pulled him by 6-7 every time. (His is the fastest stock Viper I have ever seen) So in essence, if the Viper with the SLP's is dialed in, it should be a NO CONTEST. My Viper with the CPR pipes was VERY fast, but if I did pipes again I would do the SLP's being they are a bit more trail friendly.
