I just bought an 2002 Viper last night. 5800 miles, sled is stock except for a brand new studded track. Super clean and was well cared for... paid $2000. I can't believe I have been destroying my back on a 1979 Exciter for all of these years!

I would like to put an electic starter in it, but I am not sure if the $450 - $600 kits currently for sale on ebay is the way to go. That seems like a lot of money. So here are my questions:

1) Does anyone have a used system sitting around they would like to sell?

2) Are there any vendors that sell cheaper kits?

3) If I go to a salvage yard, what machines should I be looking for that may have the parts I need?

Thanks in advance!

electric start

I bought mine used on Ebay last Sept. Paid $250 for reverse complete and $350 for electric start. Ending up getting a $100 credit towards the electric start as the guy shipped the package with the batteryt in it US mail. They stopped in in New Jersey and the guy had to drive 2 hrs to get the parcel because they flagged it during and inspection as a hazardous material. He repackaged it without the battery and sent it to me. So in the end, the kit cost $250. The reverse is the best addition. Keep your eyes peeled on Ebay. Lots of guys parting out sleds. Had no time to install, dealer charged me 6 hrs labour. He was cleaning carbs anyways, so it made it easier to install wire harness.Clutch hjas to be pulled as well to mount ring gear. Additional cos of $59.95 for a new battery as well
Hope this helps
