Yeah, that seems a little odd to me. Unless there is specifically a law stating you can't bring beer in a cooler or anything like that on the trail.
Otherwise, it would be pretty embearassing.

Isn't it zero tolerance in Canada for non-citizens? We met (and this is true) a very cute female RMCP in Wawa a few years back and she told us that "visitors" to Canada had to abide by a "zero-tolerance" rule while on sleds. Not sure if it's true but......
