Ive always used Carlisle ultimax xs, they are IMO leaps and bounds above every other belt out there. They are softer than the stock yami, giving you much better take off. Yes it can shorten the life of the belt, but I have about 1300kms on my current belt and its still well within spec. Plus carlisle is awesome for warranty on belts as long as you have the cardboard from the belt and your receipt.
They are expensive belts but well worth it, I have a new Yamaha belt I tried for one ride and I gave it to a friend, Id never put it back on again.
10-XS805 is the part number for your sled ( same as my 97)
ps. I do a lot of trail/lake running and I am often driving through a foot of snow/6-8" of slush and these belts hold up awesome!
