Seems in my digging on the web I found out that these were all recalled on the streetbikes but I just got off the phone with Yamaha and even though it's the same part number they won't recall the ones on our sleds. That kinda sucks if you ask me ! They admit a faulty item but won't recall it just because the government didn't make them include us. Screwed again! Oh well, I'm going to try to talk to the Yamaha Stealer and see if I can get one at cost at least. I probably won't get anywhere but it never hurts to try, right ! This is recall bulletin # M2006-016R for anyone who wants to try to find it and read it. This goes back to '02 on the R6.
bad i got a 2001 r6 i would sell u the old one lollll

Heat exchanger from dealer $50
Just wanted to blow off a little steam ! Seems we snowmobilers get screwed on the support end of things with Yamaha. After you buy the sled its pretty much up to us to fix things that should be taken care of. I did however find the Tech bulletin for the rear heat exchanger from Yamaha. Even though it's not a recall I heard they were willing to install these free or cheap. The retail on the exchanger is $50 and their cost is $41 according to the bulletin #S2002-007

I know a friend of mine got rocked like 115 bucks from the stealer and he put it on himself ! Not sure if these are still avail but I thought those of you who still need one could use this to get one for $50 bones !

Basically as I see it Yamaha started using these in '02 on there bikes and sleds. all R6 from 02 to 05 and thre R1 in 04, 05. The Vipers for sure and I believe the SRX also. The Government made them recall the ones on the bikes but it didn't superceed onto the sleds. It is part number 5FL-85885-00-00 Basically this is the carbed TPS that was used. After '05 the bikes are EFI so they are different. So if you have an R6 or R1 that is carbed you should call Yamaha and have yours replaced. As the bulletin reads even if you are out of warranty this is still free to have updated.

wow, same part # for the bikes that are having the part recalled, and they won't touch the ones on the sleds?
That is lame.
