Hey guys,
My 98 SRX has 2600 miles on it and I just bought it this year.
Put my first tank of gas through it today and could only hit 100mph on the lake.
Fresh snow - 4 inches over soft packed trail.
I used premium fuel - 92 Octane
the sled had been freshly serviced - valves and carbs
has an 02 long track Viper suspension - well greased
One item worth mentioning is that the right cylinder fouled two spark plugs during this outing.....I'm using BR9ECS NGK plugs.
I thought these sleds went 120mph?? or am I dreaming?
Any ideas about the fouling situation?

so so so so!!!!!.Our forcast is for rain showers for tomorrow, maybe up to plus 4 C.That will screw up what snow we have, turn everything to ice then...crappy winter. Sledding is getting worse every year the way I see it.Good thing I haven't bought a new sled,I would be pissed.I will take my SRX to the grave with me...lol
your not lucky here its all snow snow and snow

first we get a super cold spell, and that kills off any riding.I haven't started any sleds of mine for 2 weeks already.I am saving on gas this winter for sure.3 years ago I spent around $800 on gas, last year about $500 and this season so far I have spent about $200 on gas,and both sleds nearly full yet.

back to the subject, My sled will get to about 117 on the speedo, down a nice snow packed gravel road. next time out i am going to stick my tom-tom to my dash, see where i'm really at.

with that long track your not going to be doing 120 MPH that is more track then a stock SRX. More rotating mass from a longer track will kill top end.
The best I've seen a stock SRX run was a 1998 [121"] on hard pack...112mph on Radar[speedo speed is NOT accurate on any brand]
My 2002 SRX 1 1/4"-144",Viper shocks, trail"massaged' in optimum conditions will run just over 100mph on GPS...this 2002 even as a 121" would never run as fast as the 1998 did, but it had a studded track when I got it.
The only stock sled I have seen that was as fast as the 112mph 98 SRX was my 1997 Vmax 4[when it was still a 121"] it also ran 112mph on the same day.
Every time we get out the Radar + /or GPS a lot of people are shocked at how "slow" their sleds really are.

4 inches of fresh snow is going to slow it down ALOT versus a very hard packed surface or ice put it on ice or a hard pack and you might get 110-115 out of it if it is stock geared
as for the fouling situation hopefully it is just dirty carbs clean them up good and see if you still continue to foul plugs in that cylinder if you do then you have problems with that cylinder

I've seen a 98 with clutching and gearing run 120.8.. They can get there well set up they are very strong.. We ran 119.1 in 2000 ft on the gun.. mid 120's given a longer run. This is with a 2000 SRX however..
