What gearing are you running? Do you know what you have for clutching? Interested, my son wants to run my 99 SX in the stock radar runs on the lake.
Nice.....To get your real speed get a GPS and try it again...then you will know how fast are you really going. Try taking that can you have and see if it makes it faster, I bet you it will......Or better yet add triple pipes to that thingy...
By the way how is that chaincase and gears working for your Dad.
Do yo guys still have good snow...?

This doesn't really surprise me,with my old track on my 98 SX,and heel-clicker's,i could almost pull 115 on the speedometer. This was on a ice covered road though.

I just got back from my trip and on the lake wide open we had 2 700s 98 and 00 an both were right at 84.9 by gps. the 2000 is low mileage with e and r an my 98 has 6k an I am 310 lbs. Now my buys 07 Apex was at 115 by gps.

My boys Phazer II is faster than that. Either you had clutch slippage or alot of loose snow on the lake. But, it would really make my son's day to woop ya on his little Phazer. lol. just kidding. Al

ok, so what should they do? One has 800 miles on it and dont think it would need a clutch by then. I ran mine wot at least 3 times and never when over that. I think it is about 1000 feet above sea level there.

Ya, that don't sound right. My 700sx will go that fast with a fouled plug. You either have some track or belt slippage.

What do your clutches look like? Are the sheaves covered in black marks? What rpms are you running at those speeds?

Eye sight not that good but highest I saw was 8200 at top speed. I did not see anything wrong. I did loose speedo half way through the trip. Belt is two years old and I have no picks. Top speed was after 1/2 mile. I think clutch may be due for some work. Speed was checked on two different gps units. What is every one else getting. I thought my 95 600 felt faster. Mine was bought from original owner and is stock.
