a healthy 600 twin like yours should be around 125-130 psi@ op temp WOT
4-5 good pulls..per cyl.

Even at cold temp my 6000 mile 97 600 twin has 122 psi per side. But it was rebuilt sometime in the first year or 2 due to yamaha's notorious ring snag on the 97's.
Now A buddy that was looking at a apparently clean 01 mxz800 with 5400 miles on it only pulled 110 psi per cylinder at operating temp. He passed on that sled, despite it being clean and running good.

i was just curious bc a buddy recently picked up a 98 twin 600 vmax XT for cheap....got it home and only had about 95 PSI cold and maybe 100 tops at operating temp.....were diggin deeper into it but it only has 3800 miles and supposedly has never been rebuilt

Test is taken @ op temp because tolerances are that of a running motor in normal use...always take @ op temp.
