I broke the connector for the spedo where it goes into the driveshaft. Has anyone else had this problem?? It happened after a flash freeze when i was cleaning out my track after a I parked it for the night. It was very mild the day before. The spedo cable where it screws on was loosened off. Would it have maybe just froze up in the cold?? Any help would be appreciated.

did you ever blow a belt?
I had a customer who's speedo cable would freeze, twist the connector cable. I would bring in shop the cable would thaw, next day saw nothing wrong. It took my a couple times to figure out. check cable for moisture, lube up with WD 40, WD is a water displacement lubricant, not neccessarily a penetrating oil.
Are you tlking the small square key that slips in the end of the drive shaft. If yes check your bearing, it is a sure sign it is going out when that small keys breaks. If the speedo drive froze full of ice, it could also cause it to snap off. Maxdlx
Ok I will check the bearing and also check to see if maybe the cable is freezing up. Thank you for the help.

You might also want to check the part that bolts onto the end of the drive shaft to make sure that it turns easily. I'm talking about the elbow that the square cable from the speedo cable mount to. We are talking about a sled that is 10-12 years old. I have had this happen, and was able to free it up, don't recall whether I used penetrating oil, or drilled a hole in the "welch plug" and pumple some lube in there.
Thank you guys. I got it all back together and it works great.

So what was the problem? Just wondering as my speedo stopped working as well and the key on both ends of the cable looks good, no broken but speedo wont work.
Take off the housing that the cable goues into.(3 nuts) There is a connector in there that connects into the drive axle. it is probably broke in half. Mine was broke because water had gotten in there and it froze up. Like the guys above have said it could also be caused by the bearing getting bad. Hope this helps.
