I pulled my sled out of retirement after sitting for the last couple of years. I put a 1.25 inch ripsaw on, and while doing this I changed all my skid bearings and my shaft bearings (speedo and chaincase) sides. I also had to replace the gasket for the exhaust and a couple of springs. I also took the carbs off, and cleaned them all though I had put stabilizer in and ran the tank dry, so they looked really clean.
My clutches were pretty dirty, so since I had them off I cleaned up the faces. I took apart my primary and noticed that my roolers turned fairly decent. Took them off and cleaned them up to get them rolling better. The primary slid up and down pretty smoothly on those slides. I cleaned up that area a bit also. The weights moved freely, but the were worn preety good. All had some evidence of wear spots and one had been worn pretty bad on the ends. I remember doing some clutch work before parking, but I believe it was just bushings and roolers, as the weights weren't worn to bad, so I left them. My belt is the correct one, although it is pretty old and I haven't checked to see if it's within specs.
The sled starts up really good when it's cold. When it is warmer it starts, but barely idles until you blip the throttle than it idles fine. It was a warmer day while riding (-3 to -9 degrees celsius). While riding if the revs were around 3 grand the sled just wouldn't go. It would bog and had no power. If I let it idle down to 2 grand she would take off. Now while riding the sled would get to 80 km/hr and than she would really bog till just past 90 than like a rocket to 120. 120 km/r was top speed at about 3/4 throttle, as anything more was just more revs and no go. If I was riding and than hit the brakes and the revs came down to around 3 grand. The sled wouldn't go same as while at a stop in that mark just bog like it was going to die. Let the revs go down to 2 grand and she takes off again. Also no bottom end the thing is a dog off the line.
Well that was long winded, but I wanted as much info as possible. Is it my clutch, or is it a combination of clutch and jetting? I put fresh premium gas in with some stabilizer and isopropyl. I think it did run a bit better (bog wise) when the temps got a little colder in the evening.
