We were there for a week(Sat to Sat). Maim joined us on the Sunday to make the group 15 strong(2 yellow, 4 green, 7 blue). Damage for the day, one broken spring on F7, missing bogie on F6, missing bogie on Vector GT.

Monday, No maim and two green went home to make us 12. We fixed the F7 in the AM and headed out for the day only to have to pull it in off the lake, pics in the slide-show of why. He went back out on the back up 94 Vmax 600 LOL.

Tuesday, lost one doo(he had to go back to work) and the F7 guy sat out to make us 10. Made a trip to Rocky's.

Wednesday, Four guys headed home(planned) including the F7 guy. Lost a good chunk of the day to fix the left front of an 03 RX1. It got bent sometime Tuesday but we're not sure when/what did it. Trip to Royal to get arms and some custom fab to get them to fit :) . Oh, the same RX lost a rear axle wheel as well(bearing let go).

Thursday, played spin the bottle the night before to see which direction we were going to go for an overnighter. Turned out to be east so we headed to Matawa via the NB301 with the intent of obtaining a trail map in Matawa for the next district. We stopped at a few scenic areas as well. After talking to a helpful motel/restaurant owner in Matawa and consulting the map, we decided to head back to North Bay via a different route instead of carrying on further East. Our new plan was to eat in NB and possibly head back to Cache Bay via lake Nippising if we got there early enough. We ate at Don Cherry's and headed out onto the big lake in the dark and during a light snowfall. The GPS worked perfectly and we were back home in around an hour.

Friday, we picked up two locals for the day, two cats, one F6 and one 1100 turbo. The turbo liked its gas but that may have been due to the nut behind the flipper. It was a three belt day, one blue and two green including the turbo sled. Came back across the lake in the dark from the SE corner. 320 KM loop SW of the lake, going trough Alban and over both French and Pickerel rivers. Then up through Restoule. Didn't really need the GPS for the lake as it was a clear night and the locals got us across using landmarks.

Nice pictures Ian.
What's the story with the cave?
Seeing stuff like is as much fun as riding.

TOO BAD you couldnt take the 301 all the way to Mattawa!!! what a ride that is, and could have taken the A trail back to the bay

I love that ride, and posted pics a while back from the mica mine there

Yes, nippising can be very inmtimidating..you shoul;d see it in summer when it decides to get angry!!! can be glass and go to 5-6 foot swells in a matter of minutes

oops, I do see cave pics...WILD in there eh? how far'd you go in?? I made it about 15 meteres with no light...no further

Its an old MICA mine from back in the 50s era....

So did you make it to birdseye view? or did you turn arounf at the mine?

The lodge you hit was likely Camp Conwongo....where the 301 comes out, then you have backtrack and hit the power line...

They did go to Birds eye View.
I could tell because there was a picture where they were on top of a mountain or or a really big hill and there was a sign that said "Birds Eye View"
Nutin gets by me.

had fun riding with your group crew. looks like you had a good trip even with sticking billy. no pics of the vmax rider after?

ok we can forget the 2 things i broke then.

could have met you guy at rockys for lunch as it is under 1.5hr from home at my slower pace.

glad it was only arms on the rx as i do not have those as spares yet.

have to post pics of the new family "spare" after i pick it up tue/wed depending on weather. hint is 05 sx..... and that is all you get.

We really didn't know where we were going to end up and when, if you know what I mean. The loop from Sturgeon Falls around the lake to Rocky's looks like a viable Saturday loop for the TY ride. It has a nice mix of railbed and tight stuff.

Hopefully they get some snow before then, this thaw is ruining perfect off trail conditions(and it will be really hard to stick billy). That, and I'm still on the same set of sliders from last year because the conditions have been so good to this point. Wooooo Hooooo!

Hmmmm, spare you say.........

The Royal upper a-arms aren't technically supposed to fit the 03 RX1. We had to do some grinding and custom spacer(washer) construction. That and I think the spindle has more camber with the Royal arm, like the overall length is shorter. It worked fine though and was probably lots cheaper than OEM(and aluminum to boot).

Marc(03 RX1 #2) said we hit just shy of 1600KM for the 6 days, so we did okay. ;)!

The 94 Vmax is in the middle of having intermitant problems so it ended up on the strap by the end of the day. :(

I do have some video to put together for later.

We went in straight as far as we could go, then took a branch on our way back out that took us in just as far, till we had to stop. The cave floor is covered in ice and we weren't really dressed for climbing. :) I took 18 pictures in the cave, but alot look the same as the next. :)

We stopped at the camp for lunch and FX Nytro gas.

Nice, glad you had a good time.

If you ever come back, try to hit the bonfield trails as well, some of the most scenic trails around these parts...and can go any which way from there...on A to mattawa, back down 101d toward callander bay (nipissing)....across nosbonsing to take the D back to the bay...one of my favs for sure!!
