Hi there. I was putting in a new clutch set up to try yesterday and I noticed that the number 3 button on the secondary had broken off. I took a punch to the backside of sheeve and the plastic piece (with the graphite wear stuff) popped right out. I cant see in the parts breaddown that you can get these seperately. Any Ideas? My other question is related cause i found it kind of a pain in the butt to drill out the rivet without damaging the weights themselves. I didnt hurt the weights but could see it happening easily. Also, if you were doing it constantly like some of the guys on here do trying to dial in Id think there is a better way. Any tricks the pros have? :dunno:

Ok, sorry I lied. I just found were I can buy the ramps seperately. I see on the parts breadown its under secondary sheeve instead of clutch rebuild or components. Still curious about the trick to quick and safe rivit drilling.

Not Sure About The "pros" But I Usually Use A Center Punch First, Small Pilot Hole, Then A Larger Bit. A Drill Press Is The Best If You Have Access. Then Chisle/punch To Finish It Off.

While you on the subject could you guys tell me the best way to install new rivets and then (peen?) them over. I am installing 4.5 grams of tip weight and would like to know the best way to do that.Do I have to take off the weight or can I do it while it is on the clutch?

Quickest way to remove rivet...grind down the end just shy of the weight...drive rivet out with small drift punch and hammer.

How to install new rivet-----> stick it in the hole
====>peen over the narrow end,but not while in clutch,or you'll have pieces of clutch everywhere from the times you miss with the hammer....lol

So I remove the weight and put it on the work bench and just peen it over with a hammer till it is tight?

Sounds about right. Just make sure (if it's a larger weight like the 4.5g), it's peened over enough so it doesn't come in contact with the spider around the rollers. Give the weight a couple good wacks and it should be all right.

Thanks Venom. I am installing a 53/43 helix with a green spring and the 4.5 grams for the over reving.

I did the pilot drill hole and worked my way up but I really had to resist from grabbing a grinder. It seemed like the most logical way of removing the rivit but Ill have to becarefuul not to get into the weight. WHat you u guy use to cushin it in the vise so it dosent chew up the weight? Oh and when I put the new rivets in I used the vise but It didnt come out as clean as I wanted so I found peening the rivit with a hammer much better.

To my knowledge, the weight is hardened, so you'll have a hard time damaging it with a regular old drill bit. I also press my rivets in with a vice. It may not be the correct way, but it's the way I've been doing it. I have terrible aim with a hammer. ;)!

just put the rivet in the weigt and use a vice to rived them in place take 2 min ..just make just the are seat correctly in weight before to screw the vice

And if you are going to use your vise make sure you put them in the center of the gaws if you don't you risk bending or snapping them!!!!!! I have never seen this happen on rivets but I have watched some f up a vise many time:(
