You should hone the cylinder walls with a honing stone on a drill. This helps keep a film of oil there. Best to coat the walls with some injector oil before putting the head back on.

Remember those cylinder walls are Nicasil coated so do not hone too far. Just a slight cross hatch is required. Check the piston skirts for cracks. The twins have the most piston slap. Other wise just re ring and go.

Basically to rebuild it just hone the cylinder walls and then new base and head gasket, and of course pistions, rings and the rest of it. Then I should be set to go. I just want to change pistons out before the ring turning problem happens.
