let me know what kinda gains you get from this
We aren't sure if we are puttin them on yet. And I wouldn't have any idea how to tell you the gains. You can look here for dyno results http://www.m-performance.com/Sidor/dyno_yamaha_viper_eng.htm

Well e-mailed the guys from Speedwerx and they asked if I got a shim with the pipes which I did not. Said I need to shim the front of the hood up a 1/4 inch. Don't think this will be enough though but worth a shot. They also said the pipes where made by an outside source so the pipes dont have the greatest fitment but they do fit.

Yea i forgot i did shim my hood up.... I shimmed it up about a 3/8 in the front. I just did this so the PTO pipe wasnt hitting the hood screen.

sxlover, i think you will be set, once you get the shim. keep us informed how it goes for you.
yea you could be right, have to see how big of difference it makes because if I remember right the back of the hood was about an inch from closing and that was with a little flex in the hood from it sitting on the pipe when shut. Might try to tackle this tonight if I can find a 1/4" thick piece of iron or something laying around. Have to see how the night goes. I think I'm gonna try and have them on and tested by Friday since we are headed north to go sledding. Thursday is a high of -2F so that would be a good day to try them out. Another thing I was thinking of. What are the best kinda plugs to use for checking how the sled is running? I know the BR9ES, I'm sayin should I start with a set of used plugs or a brand new set? Of course gotta get the pipes on and fitting right first...lol

We took care of that buy smooshing where the hood cable attaches to the belly pan. We are hitting on the pipe closest to the motor (mag pipe) and not the PTO pipe.
mopar1rules said:i would start out w/162.5 or 160 mains, 3.5 needle postion (clip in middle groove and 1 shim on top and bottom of clip), 47.5 pilots, 2-1/8 turns on fuel screws.
I know this is bringing the thread back from the dead, but we still haven't gotten around to putting the pipes on, but why would you go to a 47.5 pilot? Do you mean a 42.5 pilot? Because looking at the high altitude chart, when you go higher up or warmer the mains get smaller numbers, and pilots get higher numbers?
So should I be getting 162.5s and 42.5s?

Just an update but I've finally had some time to do some good riding with it. Still need to get the clutch set up right but the pipes are on and plugs look good.
I DO NOT have any aftermarket head or opticool gasket on it. The sled is a STOCK 05 Viper Mtn with Speedwerx pipes. Have not expierenced any overheating issues as of yet, just a gas light lol. I now have about 75 miles on with this setup. Sled sure seems to rip with them on, I definitely can notice it.
Anyone have clutch setups for these? Don't worry I'll do some searching on this too.

what pilots are you running. im sure you will need 47.5 at least and maybe even 50's. so, you running my recommended jetting? whats your clutch setup now and what rpm are you spinning. i believe i remember sppedwerx calling for a good 9000??SXlover said:Just an update but I've finally had some time to do some good riding with it. Yea I'm running what you recommended, haven't had a chance to test it in the really really cold temps, was about lows 30s yesterday riding it and rode it in mid teens before and plugs looked good. Got 162.5 mains, 47.5 pilots, needles at 4, fuel screw at 2 1/4.
I'm not 100% sure what I'm running. But in my dad's stock 05 Viper Mtn, hes running 8DN-10s with a 17.2 stl inner, and a 13.9 outer and it is about perfect. I'm something close to that. I believe im 8DN-10s with a 17.2 inner and a 13.3 outer, not sure though. I could way overrev if I want to. Spins 9000 between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle so I know I need to change that.
Attached is what I got from Bruce at Pioneer Performace. It doesn't say anything about changing primary rivets at all. They leave those stock and go to a PP 51/45 helix, silver secondary spring wrapped at 70 degrees. And yes target rpm is 9000.
We are running a G-W-G primary spring, green secondary spring, wrapped at 70 degrees with a 45 helix and 21/40 gearing. That's all the stock settings according to TY Tech, and we have not changed them.
I also have gotten the recommended settings from Speedwerx themselves but that is at home since it was faxed to me. Thanks.

Ive ran mine with 8dn 10's and 8ek's and i thought the 8ek's worked better. The 8dn10's had 4.5 inner, 4.5 outer, and the 8ek's had 4.5 inner 3.6 outer. Both setups ran 9100-9200 rpms with my 162 track geared 20/40
Did you change your secondary at all?
And 20/40 is a 2.00 ratio where 21/40 which we currently run is 1.90 ratio so I don't plan to change it unless I go up to a 22/40 or something to go faster.

I ran a few different secondary Setups... For 0-1000ish feet i ran the stock green spring wrapped to 80-90 degrees running the 8BV51 45degree helix.
For my 8-10000 ft setup, i ran the silver spring wrapped to 90 degrees with the 8BV31 43 degree helix.
