I have a redhead triple for sale, already sold the clutch, buyer wants to hear it run, is it bad to run engine without clutch????? I wouldnt think so but thought I heard someone say it is not so good thanks

The clutch acts like a flywheel and balances the motor-don't run it without

If he is happy just to hear it start (keeping it under 2k rpm) I wouldn't worry about it. If the primary played any part in engine balance it would be keyed. In other words, they are balanced seperately (how many guys do you know that mark the primary to the crank before removal).
It does act as a flywheel so without it rpms can run away. So as soon as it lights, hit the kill switch.
I used to start my Poo without a belt (something else the owner's manual tells you not to do) after lubing the primary to spin off the excess but always kept the rpms below 3k. Nearly put my sheave compressor clamp through the bellypan one time because I forgot to remove it after lubing.
Of course it isn't my sled and you'd be wise being scepticle but if the sale required it, I wouldn't have an issue doing it having done it before.

100% DO NOT RUN THIS SLED WITH OUT THE CLUTCH ON IT. AGAIN I STRESS DON,T DO IT. THERE IS NO WAY TO CONTROL RPM. THIS SLED WILL THAN NOT BE ABLE TO SHUT OFF BECAUSE FREE SPINING RPM WILL OVERRIDE CDI. YOU WILL BLOW MOTOR AFTER IT SITS THERE SCREAMING. USE YOUR HEAD HERE. TAKE A COMPRESSION TEST FOR THE GUY. 3:16 (yammie tony)

??? - Kill/ignition switch?
No sparky no runny (unless he's into pre-ignition... on a cold motor?). In which case choking it would stall it as well.
I suspect most buyers wouldn't be satisfied with a compression test and wouldn't know how to interpret the results anyhow and "wanna see it run".
I don't recommend letting it idle for more than a second or three. But engine speed is controlable.
