Blinking Lights ???

Good day guys'.I've noticed thru out the threads that guys say they get flashing codes on there warning light system.Now what year is this typicall of and what sled model are we talking about here?Mine is a '99 600 venture and my shop manual says that the warning lights should come on when key is turned on then fade off.They have never done this, is this norm for this sled or is it only certain sled models that do the test?
 
I think only certain models have the test codes.

I know smart carb equipped sleds like my 97 venture have the lights for test codes.

I also think the DCS on SRX's have the test light as well.

I don't think your venture will have anything of that sort on it.
 
I don't know who to believe,I spoke with the fellow who previuosly owned my sled and he couldn't recall the temp/oil light blinking upon start up.I checked with a dealer and they said they weren't sure! So if the shop manual says that the lights come on briefly for a system check what possibly could cause them not to?The bulbs are fine as I checked them and I checked the oil/temp sensors there fine.Does it have anything to do with the CDI as I see these sensors are wired to it according to the schematics.
 
All yammie pro action sleds that i know of(including all mine)flash at start up
tell you systems are "OK"...thats how there desighned,if yours is not coming
on check your bulb.
 
The reason I know the lights work because I looped the temp plug and the oil level connector and each light came on this way, so the harness alll the way to the cluster is fine.
