I saw on a thread that Advant-Edge cuts their helixes different than everybody else, and i was wondering if anybody could explain what they do different. Also, will my advant-edge 47/41 helix will work good when the clutching requires a 47/41 helix. How will their cut on a helix effect shift?

His 47/41 will work like a 52/43. Anything on the clutch page does not take into account the way his helix,s are cut. To get his angles figured out I usually add about 4-6 degrees to the initial & about 2-3 on the finish. I had a 51/43 micro on a SRX & swapped to his 48/40. It dropped rpm,s by 400 with no other changes!!!!

That sucks! I just bought an Advantage 47/41 to use on my 500 with 8ab's. If this is true I wont even be able to pull 7200 rpms. Thanks for the info though Turk. Is this helix totally useless then for a stock 500sx? Can I take enough weight off the 8ab's to make this work right or will I be pissing in the wind? Dave

Try the 47/41 with stock weights cus you won,t be able to pull that helix even with 8ab,s empty.

Are you guy's talking about custom roller type helixes used in the the R3 and Gen II roller secondaries eg. HRR 49/43 or are you talking about the nickel plated billet helix eg. HBY 49/43

Thanks,

add 10 degrees for roller. Add about 5 degrees for his billet helix,s.

Dalton, Micro belmont, Maxximum.....few others but these are all close.

wow, this is enlightening :( I was thinking green spring and the recomended helix for my stock viper. guess I will try either dalton or maxximum for the helix lol. good heads up :) thanks

How about a helix from pioneer performance??

I ordered the 53/43 for my stock viper, along with the green spring.

Pioneer recomends changing the outer rivit to 4.5 grams

What are the stock rivits in the 8EK's ?

So do I need to replace the inner with a 4.5 g rivet for this set up?

53/43 Helix Green spring 04 Stock Viper
