On a 02 Viper is there a way to bypass the CDI in the handwarmer circuit?
Was thinking of running the handwarmer circuit straight from the stator to the rheostats and then to the handwarmers. Any thots??

why you wanna do that ??? cause its not hot enough ??
just to let u know stator produce ac current and those handswarmer work on dc
The handwarmers do not live up to their name.It takes about 20 minutes of driving before I feel any heat from them and then it is not enough when it is colder than -11c/12f.
I would find the dc voltage after the rectifier then? Could I go from the battery and trigger a relay with the headlights to power the warmers?

well on my srx i plug those handwarmer in parallele ..i know it ask more amperage but it work for a year that way for me ....just make sure not to put the knob at full cause i think the handwarmer will melt ..do not cross haft way with the knob
I have the Apex warmers wired in parallel. Ohmed them out. They are the same in parallel as the Viper in series.
Maybe I should look for 06 bars with the plastic hooks. The element would be alot smaller than the 07 elements

well if they are stock handwarmer plug them in paralelle you will burn your hands on it lolll dont go more than haft way ... i think appex does have problem with them too doesnt really get warm
Stock Viper handwarmers are plenty warm. You likely have a problem somewhere. I would start testing and indentify the root cause of the problem instead of trying to put a band-aid on it. You will likely have better results if you test all components and fix or replace what is defective. It could simply be a loose wire.
Well, just went out and tested a diff CDI. Same results. Last year went thru the harness, all was good. Put zip ties on the handwarmer circuits(from another post I read about Vipers having low heat in the warmers) to keep the connectors tight. No change. Have gone thru the rheostats. Both check out good . Have a spare set and swapped them out,no change. Only the stator left to change as far as I can tell.Sending it out with my buddy to check it out and rewind it if necc.
Been readin in the 4s side how someone got more heat out of the 4s warmers and thinking their must be away to do this to the 2s system also that utilizes the CDI to control the warmers.
Its fine riding in temps above -10c/12f but when its -20c/-5f or lower ( the temp we usually ride in)it can be challenging to keep the fingers warm.

Well found a band-aid solution to the cold fingers problem. Bought a box of "hot hands" things. Take these tea bags things and put them in my gloves . Hot hands for about 4 hours.
Would an aftermarket heating elements be more efficient than the stock elements and would they hook to the factory wires or direct to the battery??

plug them in parallele lolll....
or buy new grip and crosss your finger
Funny guy you are

i'm not funny.. they are in parallele now on my srx ...i'm always freezing my finger ....no more no moreeeeeeeeee

I had aftermarket elements on my viper prior to the 06 apex grips and I wired them in parallel. They got hot, but not nearly as hot as the apex grips. After a day of pretty much burning my hands last weekend, I decided to rewire them in series. I haven't yet tested, but I'm sure they'll be as hot as my orig viper grips.
It sound like I made a good choice going with the 06 grips. I came close to picking up a newer 07/08 set last year, but didn't want to mess with getting the one piece throttle on them, so i went with the two piece 06 design.
Have my 07 bars wire in parrallel already. Put 500 miles on in the last two days and never once turned them off of high.Lookin for a 06 set with the plastic hooks now.

I'll keep an eye out for a set of bars... Also, I actually prefer the grip style of the 06 over the 07 as well.
