blown belt at 110mph

I had a yammy belt blow on me this year and it was a new one. I have 12,000km on my viper have bought 3 belts and they wore with time and the new one had maybe 400km's on it. Biggest piece was about an inch long, seemed to disinigrate. $100 bucks canadian, and i picked one up in states for $55.

I love these religious discussions!!! :>) At least we all agree that Yamaha's are the way to go.

Hey Blue!! I knew you'd wade in on this one!!! However I know that your alignment was out and you probably didn't BREAK the belt in properly. You're a "pin it" kind of guy!!! :>) (and you like wrenching anyway)

I've also grown to appreciate Ding's input on this forum. Thanks Ding.

Anyway, I'm heading out on Saturday with my Ultimax 3 belts for another 200 mile ride, just like the last three Saturdays!! You should come Blue so I can introduce you to some nice Eastern manitoba trails.

Cheers everybody.

I blew 2 Yammy belts last week. First one was from broken engine mount bolts and second one was due to tightening the engine where it was after I put new bolts in, without checking for align. There was one piece of belt about a foot long and the rest was mostly brown fuzz. I am taking it in to the shop to align the engine and for them to go through my clutches. I guess this summer I will purchase an alignment tool and a clutch puller. How difficult is it to align everything properly?
