Im trying to find the testing procedure on the 2000-2002 srx stators. My book has a test in it but the plugs are not the same on mine. Now I dunno if its cuz the books for the 98-99 stators or mine is different because its an 02 with dcs. If anyone has the testing procedure it would be much appreciated

Okay, Ive got a set of coils coming... Thanks Harness Racer.... No one has any ideas on how to test the stator though??

Okay, an update on this whole thing lol. Yamyrider gave me some specs on the stator and pick up coil. The pick up coil tested at 199.3 Ohms so Its alright Im assuming because 200 Ohms is the spec. Now I ran into a problem testing the windings in the stator. Im not quite sure How to test them, its a 3 wire plug and I dont know what pins to test between or if thats even how you test it properly (im assuming it is) When I test between the pins Im getting a resistance of 0.7 Ohms which is way off because the one spec is 85 Ohms and the other is 400 Ohms. If anyone has tested one before could you please let me know how to go about testing it properly. Just wanna check it all before I put it back together, saves me tearing it all apart again.
Also, I pulled the carbs off, went through them with a fine tooth comb lol, no signs of dirt or anything.... needle and seat are fine in all 3 so its definately not in the carbs. I pulled the top covers off them to and checked if everything was alright on top of the needle and it was.
Still dont know what to think, I wanna test the stator, put it all back together and try it and see what happens thats about all I can do I guess.

the specs for 2000-2002 are 189-231 ohms for the pick up coil . white/red to white/green and for the stator .36-.44 ohms across any two of the white wires.also check across any of the wires and ground ( the crankcase) resistance should be infinite (no continuity) for stator and pickup, this will tell you if you have a short to ground.

Okay perfect thank you, will test tomorrow and put back together. Hopefully I can find this little problem.

Okay.... finallly got the time to sit down and work on the sled. Tested stator between pins, test OK, 0.6 Ohms roughly between any of the 3 pins. I did test between each pin and the block to see if there was any shorts to ground and all 3 pins had roughly 7.8 M Ohms resistance between them and the water rail. I tested numerous times and different locations and this reading stayed the same.... SO Im assuming theres something wrong here because there shouldnt be any continuity present at all here??
If So... Where should I look?? Wire rub through behind recoil?? Whats the next step guys??
Thanks

7.8 Meg ohms is for all purposes an open cct... you don't have a short to ground... unless of course it's an intermitent short....

okay.... lol dam it... I thought I had it all figured out.... I dont know what to do next.... Other then try it and run it with the new coils I got.... Any other tests I could do??

how's compression on all cyls?
are powervalves all working properly?..
can you have the problem follow to a different cylinder if you moved the suspected coil to a different cylinder?...
run out of ideas, just trying to get confirmation on these....
keep in mind electrical problems can often be intermitent... which makes things difficult... tj

Have checked for a loose plug wire at the coil? I had that happen to me. I fixed that and I haven't had a plug foul since.

TJ.... Compression good, did a test before I dove into the electrical stuff. Powervalves were cleaned and adjusted at the start of the year, no pull throughs. I didnt try switching the coils between cylinders... I know I should have. I know it was on the middle cylinder When It did it last. Went through the service manual and tested stator, coils, pick up coil and all tested fine... But the problem is intermittent so its a needle in a haystack.
Sleddineiner... None of the coil wires appeared to be loose, orginally I thought it was the boots so I replaced all 3... Still does it. Now I have a new rack of coils that i've purchased so hopefully the problem was just a bad coil, havnt had a chance to try it yet with the new coils on there.

So it'd been 2 years since this center cylinder not firing issue... What's the conclusion or actual cause of your problem?
