When was the last time you checked your primary clutch?
Probably had a crack in the outer shive & it grenaded. stuff happens on a 6-7 year old sled with low maintenance.

It appears you have had alot of belt slippage by all the belt dust that I see in there. All the slippage creates heat which more than likely cracked your clutch face and it finally blew apart.I've heard of this in extreme situations before, especially in the mountains. You should be able to find a used primary at a decent price.

i havent got the time to check it, I should of checked it with the time, we got the clutch out, my buddy has a SRX 700 and he wanted to try my clutch, and we opened it, i thought it was because maybe we didnt tight back those little 6 bolts in front, but as u can see it wasnt that, ill cehck with the peices see if i can see some old cracks i will probably see if theyr was a crack with the color of the fracture.

Iam just wondering if a Thundercat 1000 primary would fit on this? probably not, just making sure need to fix it before weekend, but dont seem ill have it for the weekend, might have to use the TCAT :o|

That is the most belt grime that I have ever seen in a sled! All that isn't from a blown belt last weekend, sorry! It's from lack of maintenance and cleanliness is why your primary bombed. Like said above, probably an overlooked crack in the sheeve. Plus like Turk said... It's an old sled already! That suck, hope it didn't wreck anything more than cosmetics!

You will want to pull your secondary and check it out real well. It was definitely in harms way. Be a good idea to check out everything on that side of the sled. Might be a really good time to clean it up too.

Exactly right!!!! Ive seen it more than once on these sleds..HEAT...HEAT...HEAT!!!! theres a few reasons why you create it. One reason is that 8 dn belt.... I used to run those belts .. that is till I couldnt keep the clutches cool and exploded mine and my buddys; and a few others I know . I switched to an 89L and no more heat ,clutches run cool , No more exploded clutches!!

hot clutches are not the 8dn belt; it,s from poor clutching. the 8dn belt is awesome.

take a look a your fixed sheve and see if it has heat cracks in by thr shaft, usually if one sheve has them the other will also ,if it does thats probaly what happened. good thing the belt guard did it 's job or you could be really hurten.
