Hey just a couple more questions does the 2000 sxr or srx have more rear travel or are they the same? Will a newer yamaha suspension bolt right in and a 2005 edge clicker suspension a good one? I looked at getting the xtra 10 but wanted more rear travel?Does any one have any more ideas? :dunno:

Check the classifieds. There is no less than 5 aftermarket skids for sale right now that offer lots of travel. The Sxr has a long travel susp and the Srx is short travel susp.
Do some searching on rear skids with the search option above and you will find hours of reading on skid mods and setups. Tons of good info to go thru.

Polaris Edge suspension is probably your best ride for the buck. The are relatively cheap and have a nice ride. There is better riding suspension out there... Whatever skid you choose try to get exact measurements from donor sled and be sure to reinforce every mounting point or your holes over time will open up and end up being shaped like a banana. I learned the hard way and did not reinforce my front arm bolt hole which open up on me and I have to make 2 steel plates 1 on the inside and one on the outside then bolt them together and redrilled front arm holes. Really take your time in preparing your mounting holes.

you can just install the shocks from any 97 and up long trav. pro-action sled into you srx. (along with control rod spacers and if its a 00-02 srx -longer rods) the viper or sx-r shocks are the shocks of choice for this mod. you can usually find all the parts for this conversion for under $200.00 bucks and its an easy mod. no measurements or holes to drill. this is by far the simplest way to get more travel on your srx.
