i have been thinking about buying a new sled but i dont know if i should wait i own a 2001 sxr ER and a 2002 viper ER. i was just wondering if i should keep my sxr or sell it for a new 4 stroke or wait out for another seson.
keep the Viper, 2 strokes are way cooler
Unless you are going to buy one of those turbo charged beasts, those things are crazy fast.

keep em both, the relyability of the yamaha tripple is unmatched, just add
the 4 stroker to the stable.

Yeah, what Damon said.
The SXR is worth peanuts. Keep it and if you want to, add a 4 stroke.

My brother-in-law bought a 08 Nytro. Long tracked, bar riser, 2" Paddles. It rides really "heavy" feeling. Also not very fast compared to a 2 stroke, and it trenches in deep snow. Keep the Viper, do some mod's, save the new sled payment for repairs that come up. My 2 cents.......................

Mind you if you ride 100 miles per day, on groomed trail, you cannot beat a 4 stroke.

well thats what i was thinking i like the viper and the sxr is what i gave my gf to ride. i have 6000 miles on them now i have them servaced every year but should i belooking at doing some engin work or leave it alone. and just keep doing the regular mantince. i was also wondering about doing a clutch kit on the viper or should i just leave it stock.

Keep them both. I just bought a left over 07 Apex and love it, but still love getting on the viper also.

Smooth power delivery, fuel economy. Oh yeah and new upgraded suspension can't hurt.

My Viper is that without the 4 stroke, with the M10.
My ZX is even better with the M10. It might not have the fuel economy, but it'll ride better, handle better and probably outrun most if not all stock 4 strokes. And with the 12 or 15 thousand I didn't spend to get one, I can afford the fuel and with the Koso EGT's I have it jetted to pretty decent fuel economy.

i say add a 4-stroke, apex or nytro, the nytro is so light, you cant beat it, i have one. keep the other two and add a third, they rock!!!! just turn a key, although the viper is a classic as well...just my opinion

It's been more of a $$ issue with me. Lately I seem to go on two trips a year....one to the UP and one to a work buddies cabin in Winter, WI. In fact I just got back Thursday from the western UP and logged 630 miles. We could have had more miles though. We went up with three two strokes and 1 four stroke. (my Viper, 780BB Viper and the Viper in my Avatar that has a 944 Price Perf. motor and a 2008 Nytro) We came back with 3 four strokes and 1 two stroke. (mine) Yes the two hot rods traded at Pat's in Greenland. The guy with the 780BB had a Cat skid in the rear and it blew a shock the first 40 miles. He traded for a nice clean used 2006 Apex GT in black. The guy with the Price motor traded for a clean 2007 ATTAK. That sled ran great though. 200HP on pump gas and it only used about a gallon or so more than my stocker on gas stops. The dealer wanted that sled for himself. The boys then started heckling me calling me Johnny Skepticle...LOL!! Here's the thing though. If I did buy a 4 stroke I am not sure what I'd buy. I begin to wonder if I could rail an Apex type sled like my Viper. My Viper is a fast trail sled. With the addition of the Cobra track and SLP Powder Pro skis it hooked up and carved corners like mad. The Nytro rider always leads and I could easily keep up with him from corner to corner. The Apex's had a bit harder time keeping with our pace. The Nytro actually feels slower than my Viper on top but he actually was a bit faster. The thing is it has an Excel pipe and clutch kit....etc. from Ulmer Racing. The only thing I don't like about the Viper is it does not allow you to stand up easily.

The more I ride the nytro the more I want one. We hit up the Yami demos in Osceola yesterday and I rode the Nytro SE. I like it. My viper has slipped to back up since my wife doesn't want to ride and I love the rev.
My buddy rides the viper but he is short and doesn't mind the No-action skid. If i find a 4 stroke cheap I might jump ship but until then I'm riding my Doo

I think I am going to troll for a four stroke this summer, I have never driven one but everyone says the motors are awesome and the power is addictive. I can't decide between an apex or an attack. I ride all groomed trails, no off trail riding. I think I want the long track in case I throw on a super charger a couple years down the road. Should be able to find a clean apex for around $5000 this summer or $5500 for an attack. I would like $2500 for my sled next winter, could probably part it out for much more than that but I don't have time to deal with it.
Buy a 4 stroker and keep your 2 stroker for fun!!!!! That's what I did. And you can get some GREAT deals right now.... I just picked up an 07 Attak GT with 500 miles on it -- IN immaculate shape and never even been registered in any state -- for mid-$5000's. Dealerships can't give away sleds right now, and they don't want them over the summer......
