Hi guys i know this is not a yamaha related question but my freind has a 2003 polaris pro x with an eletronic rear shock and yesterday the rear shock broke on his sled so i found one off a 2000 m10 non electronic controled suspension ,my question is will this shock work with his suspension ,i did not wire it up because i was not sure it would work becuse i am not familliar with the m10 suspension if anyone could give me any info on how this suspension works i would really be greatfull.

The Pro X only has an M10 if someone put it in there. I always though the electronic part of an Ace equipped M10 had to do with moving the position of the shock, that is moving it more vertical or more horizontal. I don't think any of the electronics have to do with the actual shock.

Thanks for the info , i figured that the suspension came with the sled because of all the stamping on the tunnel, anyway the reason why i asked the question was because when we had the skid out and removed the shock ,where the shock mounted to in the skid had a knuckle just like a universal joint and you could rotate 360 degrees and hear the motor working inside the housing, but like you said i am pretty sure that the motor slides the knuckle in and out to change the angle of the shock to make it firm or soft ,the suspension that the shock came out of had the manual adjustment just like a track adjustment, ewll maybee i will hook it up for him and see if it works, thanks for the input, and info helped alot.

If it looks stock, it might be a Polaris Edge X, not the Pro X. And you're on the right track - the only issue might be where the remote reservoir connects to the shock. Some of the older shocks will not mount on that "knuckle" if they came from a regular M10 with the manual FRA adjustment. The fitting on the shock will be in the way.

Hauling the skid out again tomorow to replace the front shock will work at getting the electric control working again will rewire it with the skid out of the suspension to see if and how it works before re installing the skid ,the m10 is a lot easier to remove and install than my proaction in the viper hope to get everything buttoned up for a run mid week will keep you posted on the progress.

Well guys had some more bad luck with my freinds 800 x had the suspension out twice replaced both shocks ,headed out for a run yesterday and he put a stud through the front heat exchanger and broke the hose off the remote resevoir for the rear shock,i can surely tell you that this sled is going up for sale and he comming on our side!!!
So tell us . . .progold said:Well guys had some more bad luck with my freinds 800 x had the suspension out twice replaced both shocks ,headed out for a run yesterday and he put a stud through the front heat exchanger and broke the hose off the remote resevoir for the rear shock,i can surely tell you that this sled is going up for sale and he comming on our side!!!
How did you arrange for the stud to go through the front exchanger?
Pretty drastic measure to convince him, but effective I must say . . .

Take the Ace out if your having issues.
An Ace came on my used m10 and the drive motor sounded bad, so I called Fast and they said remove it and use the Jack crank they sell or a socket and ratchet.
Just remove the motor housing on the rightside of the skid. All that will remain is a shaft sticking out thru the skid about an inch with 2 flat sides on it. This is where you will crank the Jack to set the fra. Takes 30 seconds on the trail to adjust the fra this way.
As for shocks...any m10 rear shock will mount up to the M10 Jack, except the new air shocks

Thanks for all the input guys but my freind already sunk 350 for rear shock and 150 for front shock and i dont think he has put more than 60 miles on the sled ,let me tell you he is pretty frustraded and wont even look at the sled ,he is only here for another week and back home to toronto hopefully next time he comes down he will be riding a yamaha, dont know if this is bad luck or he bought a lemmon,oh did i mention the last time he was down he also blew the chain case another 1200 bucks, anyway feel pretty bad for him plus i did all the work myself so saved quite a bit in labour.

Only partly true - the metric M10 rear shocks will not work unless you change the fitting coming out of the shock that the remote reservoir hose connects to. I had to pull the 2001 and newer style M10 out of the Viper and put in my spare metric M10 after busting the hose. The shock out of the metric would not work, so luckily I was able to switch suspensions instead of having to wait for the hose to come from Fast. I bought a Jack for the metric M10 in the ZX - same issue. I picked up a Zero Pro w/clicker of Ebay for about the same price it was going to cost for the hose and to have the shock serviced, since you can't change the fitting without having to service the shock.

huh...good to know, only passed on what Fast told me...I was in the shop asking a ton of questions about the new air m-10's when I was there last thursday picking up my sled. I had them do a rebuild and re-valve on both shocks(2nd rebuild in 1 month)...it's nice, they are only 4 blocks away!
I have the m10 metric(199
and put in a 2003 M-valve Ohlin clicker that came from the skid of one of the Blade snowmoblies Fast use to manufacture and it dropped right in. But then again I've never tried installing a pre 2000 shock in a 2001 and newer m10.
Thanks for the info!

It's only an issue with the shock if you're trying to put it in a Jack. I'm not near my sled, but I think one of the shocks have the fitting coming out straight; the other shock has a 90 degree one. Can't remember which is which, but I think the metric one has the 90 degree.
