When it comes to this things (ok, a lot of things) I'm a dummie, what tool to use to measure gaps in mm, like the oil cable I have to adjust....?

I saw Daman post on it and will try to adjust my cable since the dealer did not know how to do it, I mean they did it and with maybe 8 gallons of gas I used the almost the hole oil reservoir, and smokes like hell...

So what is the capacity on the gas tank and oil on my 99 sx 600 ?

We put 70 miles on the lake and trails last week and I went thru 3/4 or more off my tank and like I said almost the hole oil reservoir bottle, I kinda want to get it right for Muni. I know my MPG sucks on my sled, could be the pipes...?

Sled runs great but plugs always looked rich on the outer ring, not the tip tought.....

Thanks

Nick

I know I know, but I don't remember being this bad before I had the dealer adjust it....Why did I have them do it...? I asked myself that question many times....LOL.

And for sure it did not smoked that bad before....

They may not have gotten the oil cable seated properly in the holder. I use a machinist rule that has MM on it. Maxdlx

That is what I tought, some kind of ruler...I will get one at sears maybe tomorrow.

No Mike i have been running Amsoil HP since day one.....

Thanks Andy, I think I have to go get a ruler tomorrow......Sears is closer than your house....LOL but thanks for the offer.....

On a yammy if the pump goes bad it will pump at full rate all of the time. this may also be your problem. Maxdlx

Hey Nick, Jack & I got in another 40 or so miles today. The trails up here are pretty spotty. I drove up hwy 65 about 15 minutes, unloaded and we rode up to Isanti and back, stopped by some lakes and fields. The snow was pretty crappy when we started out, but got better the farther north we went. We saw 3 other sledders out. I went because, I see that by Thursday we're expecting rain & 45F. Oh well! Maybe we'll get another snowstorm before spring gets for real.

Good to know, since oil was coming out of the connection between the pipe and can on the triples pretty good.....

Any way to check for a bad pump....?

check oil cable for seat like said above,i use calipers(the I.D jaws) works good.

idle
throttle endplay
oil 22-24mm

Well the gap is @ 7/8 right now...I will have to test drive it again with a full tank of gas and a full tank of oil. Still want to get a ruler, nice to have and easier than the tape.

Any idea guys capacities for the gas tank and oil tank....?

Also is there any way to check for faulty oil pump...?

Thanks

This happened on my DT200R. If I remember correct the internal shaft with cam disk strips and defaults wide open. How can you tell? Smokes like a bugger and blows a lot of s#!t out the pipe on acceleration after cold start warm up.

You could check the pump by slowly adjusting the oil pump down. When I got my 500, the pump was turned way down but since it was bad it was running full flow thru it. He let me know it was bad so it wasn't a surprise. Better to have full flow than no flow though. Pump is easy to change but spendy for the little bugger.

I know and I sold one I have for 40 bucks.... :o| I should it keep it...

I reply to you on the Ride Thread Travis, Let me know what's your plan....
