I purchased an 02 Viper last month and after doing about 400 miles on it, I have been disappointed in the suspension. This weekend I was out for a ride and had to give someone who broke down on the trail a ride home (about 10 miles). Despite feeling really weird having a guy holding on to me, I was shocked at how well the sled rode (much softer ride over bumps) with the extra weight on it. I weigh 180 lbs and the other guy was a bit bigger than me. So I would guess that there was about 400 lbs on the machine. I was riding pretty hard and it only bottomed out once coming down a really steep ditch with him on back.

I am wondering what I could adjust to give a ride similar to having all of that extra weight on the machine. It rides really hard normally. I bought the sled from the origianl owner and he claimed that he never touched the suspension settings once he got the upgraded shocks and springs from the Yamaha trade out/upgrade deal. When I sit down on it, the sled sinks about 2 inches. My back would be grateful for any help!

Not sure about skid set up, Since I can't even get mine dialed in, but all the guys here swear by getting your shocks revalved for your riding style and weight...I will do that next season, also I know there is a good video on how to set up your suspention and betheviper has a good write up also...just do a search.....

I just read, printed and performed "BETHEVIPER's" article "setting up your suspension".
I found it by doing a search on the TY forums...very educational and really worked on my SRX even though its been stretched to 144"...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
