I need to remove the primary sheave cap to install engagement shims behind the primary spring.I want to do this with the clutch still on the machine.Do I need a spring compressor or can I squeeze the cap on with my hands and get my buddy to screw the bolts in? (1999V-max500SX)
You should be able to did it if it's a stock spring. If you have trouble you can try using long bolts to get it started, then put the stock ones back in.
